Seems like the problem is limited to OSX 10.9 unless you can also reproduce on a more recent OSX version. In the meantime, I will add 10.9 to title.
Comment 3 Alex Thurgood 2017-07-31 07:47:59 UTC
If it can't be reproduced on a current version of macOS, then it is even more unlikely to get fixed, as statistically we have few, if any, QA testers using OSX 10.9, and even fewer developers using that version.

Pierre-Alain: would it be possible you attach a backtrace?
For the test, could you rename your LO directory profile (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#macOS) and give a new try?

Finally, do you use any accessibility feature? If yes which ones?
Comment 5 Julien Nabet 2017-08-15 09:07:00 UTC
Just for the record, on MacOS 10.12.6, with master sources updated some days ago, I don't reproduce this.

I don't know how to do this. I user soffice --backtrace withe the terminal but see no log...

using a new profile do not solve the issue.

I think i do not use accessibility feature (are you talking about macos accessibilty feature ?)

About backtrace, you may find some information here:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugReport/Debug_Information#Mac_OSX:_How_to_get_debug_information

For accessibility part, here's a questionnaire I retrieved from an old Roman Eisele's comment:
"
1) Do you have any accesibility features enabled? Apple’s accessibility
features like “VoiceOver” or “Enable access for assistive devices”, which get
enabled in “System Preferences > Universal Access”, are known to cause many crashes and freezes in LibreOffice. So please try to disable any accesibility features, then check if the problem is still reproducible.

2) Do you have installed any window management/user interface utilities/apps/control panels/extensions for Mac OS X like
   * AquaSnap                * BetterSnapTool
   * BetterTouchTool         * Breeze
   * Cinch                   * Divvy
   * DoublePane              * Flexiglass
   * HyperDock               * iSnap
   * Moom                    * RightZoom
   * ShiftIt                 * SizeUp
   * SizeWell                * Spectacle
   * Stay                    * TileWindows
   * WindowTidy              * Flavours (from flavours.interacto.net)
... or something similar?

And/or do you use any mouse cursor/pointer utility, i.e. some little application or control panel etc. which animates or replaces etc. the mouse curser/pointer, like
   * LazyMouse?

And/or do you use any special software which could be related to accessibility stuff, e.g. a screen reader, screen magnifier, speech recognition software,
a text-to-speech (dictation) application, or similar?

All these and many similar utilities rely heavily on Mac OS accessibility features and therefore can cause LibreOffice to crash or freeze. So please check if you have installed any utility of this kind and try to disable it
(or to add LibreOffice to the list of excluded applications for the utility,
if there is such a thing).

Sorry but it only indicate debug when app crash (this is not the case).
I found no information related to backtrace for MacOS...

OK thanks.
No i do not used any accessibility features and no addon software.
I reproduce this "slow" bug with MacOS X 10.12.6 on a brand new MacMini at work (brand new, no previous MacOS and no previous LibreOffice, just a complete fresh install).

Hi Pierre-Alain Dorange,
Could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ?
