Description:
With this option LibreOffice Draw can use a checkered background to indicate transparency channel while importing GIF, PNG and so on. This option can be available at Tools -> Option -> LibreOffice Draw -> View.

Wouldn't use Tools > Options but rather View > Grid and Helplines for this feature. The checkerboard should enhance the current grid, meaning it also takes all customization from this tool. However, it could make sense to allow changing the checker colors per workplace.

As a workaround, Draw has layers that can be shown/hidden quickly. And when you collect some shapes onto a special checkerboard layer it works out of the box.
