=========================================
LibreOffice 5.2
=====================
I was editing the Master Slide : View/Slide Master, then right-clicked the first (only) Slide Thumbnail then selected 'Slide Master Design'
In the 'Select a Slide Design' I then ticked the option 'delete unused backgrounds' thinking this would tidy up my presentation (15 slides).

Impress then crashed and here we are.

Fortunately the Recovery system worked and the Presentation is OK. I have'nt risked doing the above again, however!

5.2 branch is EOL, could you give a try with last stable LO version 5.3.4?
Comment 2 Julien Nabet 2017-08-02 09:58:55 UTC
BTW, have in mind to make backups if the file is important. It's a piece of advice not specific to LO but for any application.
Depending on the importance, your work, it can be a backup per month, week or even day!
For example, once a day and you keep the last 5 backups (so the last 5 days).
