apparently it's a bug appeared just in 5.3.5 and not present in 5.3.4 and 5.4.0
has anybody tried 5.4.1.x or 6.0.0.x ?

I do not reproduce this problem in LO 5.4.1.0.0+ and LO 6.0.0.x built at home under Ubuntu 16.04 x86-64, both with French language activated. That said I do know if it is the same with Windows builds.

I forgot to add that the problem has been reported with French language too.

Comment 12 Laurent Balland 2017-08-14 16:17:13 UTC
The problem of localization is also visible:
- in status bar: every thing is in English
- in new name of sheet: option indicates "Sheet" even with a French UI

NOT reproduce with:
Version: 5.3.5.1
Build ID: 020db1aa8142e57290f8a21e4df31185392d0e38
Threads CPU : 4; Version de l'OS :Windows 6.1; UI Render : par défaut; Moteur de mise en page : nouveau;
Locale : fr-FR (fr_FR); Calc: CL

So regression may have been introduced between RC1 and RC2

Pb of localization is limited to:
- Calc:
  - function names
  - status bar
  - default name of new sheet
- Math:
  - context menu
I noticed no problem in other status bars (Writer, Draw...). Menu, toolbars, sidebar, dialog are correctly localized.
Comment 13 Laurent Balland 2017-08-14 16:33:37 UTC
Confirmed with:
Version: 5.3.5.2
Build ID: 50d9bf2b0a79cdb85a3814b592608037a682059d
Threads CPU : 4; OS : Windows 6.1; UI Render : par défaut; Layout Engine: new;
Locale : fr-FR (fr_FR); Calc: CL

NOT reproduce with:
Version: 5.3.5.1 (x64)
Build ID: 020db1aa8142e57290f8a21e4df31185392d0e38
Threads CPU : 4; Version de l'OS :Windows 6.1; UI Render : par défaut; Moteur de mise en page : nouveau;
Locale : fr-FR (fr_FR); Calc: CL

So it is both 32 and 64bit ==> Change hardware

NOT reproduce with:
Version: 5.4.1.1
Build ID: a5be49f0c45fe24a575c7f41559aa8fc79a781a2
Threads CPU : 4; OS : Windows 6.1; UI Render : par défaut;
Locale : fr-FR (fr_FR); Calc: CL

So it is specific to 5.3 branch
Comment 14 Laurent Balland 2017-08-15 13:25:08 UTC
Actually, localization is broken in many other places:
- Calc:
  - Tools > Options > LibreOffice Calc > General > Measurement units: list of units is not localized (whereas it is correctly localized in Writer Tools > Options > LibreOffice Writer > General)
- Writer:
  - Insert > Field > Other > Document information: types are not localized
  - Styles: many style's name are not localized (Heading...)
  - Tools > Options > Language settings > Languages: dialog is correctly localized except the content of the comboboxes
- Draw & Impress:
  - in menu View, Comments is not localized
Comment 15 Christian Lohmaier 2017-08-16 09:51:04 UTC
confirmed - for some reason tag was placed on 5.4.0 state in translation module, on master branch instead of from libreoffice-5-3-5 state Unfortunately cannot tell why it happened :-(

But will do an additional 5.3 build with proper translations, since regular 5.3.6 would only be end of October.

Comment 18 Jacques Guilleron 2017-08-25 17:16:25 UTC
Hi all,

All localization issues are solved in french UI of
LO 5.3.6.1 Build ID: 686f202eff87ef707079aeb7f485847613344eb7
Threads CPU : 2; Version de l'OS :Windows 6.1; UI Render : par défaut; Moteur de mise en page : nouveau;
Locale : fr-FR (fr_FR); Calc: CL
It seems to be the same with italian and german UI.
I only verified formulas translation in those languages.
Comment 19 Laurent Balland 2017-08-28 08:54:17 UTC
I did not detect any l10n pb in LibO 5.3.6.1. Thanks for the fix :-)
