Description Dereck Wonnacott 2017-09-05 21:10:58 UTC
Description:
Executive Summary: I really like using embedded OLE objects but they tend to be buggy and I frequently need to restart LibreOffice to edit them, but the only way for me to do the things I want to do...

Here's a specific example:

I have a sheet, with an OLE writer document anchored to a cell. I put some fancy stuff in the child document and then exit back to the sheet. Then I go back into the child document and there is a large gray border around the left and bottom side of the pop-up window and the scroll bars are not in the right spot. If I make any changes inside the child document at this time, when I exit the pop-up the results will be translated and cut off. Most of the time, If I resize the popup window one pixel, it will fix the pop-up and the edit will work as expected. If I ever fail to resize the window before closing it, I will need to restart LO before it will work correctly again.

screenshot & example file attached.

I cannot reproduce with Version: 6.0.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: e845507bc22a166ec172a4b4d9da120a16f8a964
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 6.1; UI render: default;

Version 5.1 is old, could you test it with newer version? http://www.libreoffice.org/download/
Thank you

Set to NEEDINFO.
Change back to UNCONFIRMED, if the problem persists with version 5.4. Change to RESOLVED WORKSFORME, if the problem went away.
Comment 7 Dereck Wonnacott 2017-09-11 17:48:11 UTC
It's _better_ in 5.4.1.2, the pop-up box still has the wrong size, there is a large gray border where I assume scroll bars should be and the bottom and right sides are cut off.

But now the content of the OLE object is no longer corrupted when editing while the pop up is in a bad state, so that's a good sign of progress. :)

Dereck: I found an older report for this same problem.
Thank you for your report in any case.

Argh, it seems I was too hasty. It is not related.

I can confirm that there is a "large gray border where scroll bars should be" with attachment 136047 [details] but otherwise I don't see the wrong size and cut offs. Sure, the bottom is cut off by the gray bar, but that is all..

** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword
