1) try to rename your LO directory profile (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#GNU.2FLinux) and give a new try.

2) do you save on a local hard disk or on a usb/network or other location?

3) you can give a try to a recent LO version from LO ppa.

1) I already tried changing LO profile as described
2) Local Hard disk
3) I will try a recent version when I get some time to install that.

no repro 5.1.6.2 : 1:5.1.6~rc2-0ubuntu1~xenial2
Ubuntu 16.04

Please try newer version, probably some error specific to your enviroment or xubuntu.

http://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/

Please retest and set again to status NEW if you can still reproduce the bug in current version of LO.
