Remaining frame of a previous inserted image

Inserted image vanish after a while from document and only a frame in size of the inserted Image remains. You have to reinsert the image again and again. Consequence is: Writer can`t be used for greater Projects.
This critical bug seams to be known to users at least since 2012. ( googled )

5 years its time to remove this Long term bug. :(

On pc Debian x86-64 with master sources updated today, I launched Writer, then clicked on Menu "Insert"/"Image", then selected the image.
After more than a minute, the image hasn't disappear.

I know there are lots of problem with image management but could you give a precise step by step process?
Also, what's your LO version? FYI, 5.4.3 is last stable one.

I inserted by mistake a PDF file instead of a png file. This pdf has been diplayed correct for some time. But after closing and reopening my odf file, the inserted PDF was lost. Only a Frame in size of the original file remained.
Using a png file seams to do the job in a correct way. For me is this a practicable Workaround for this bug.

My Point of view:
Either block no working file Formates from being inserted
or remove the bug.

It's a bit different from the initial description:
1) it's a pdf instead of a png
2) it disappears when you close and reopen the file instead of just waiting
=> do you confirm?

Does it happen with any pdf file or just this specific pdf file?
If just specific pdf, could you attach it to the bugtracker?

Indeed, I did this:
- created a simple pdf just containing "test"
- created a brand new file then did "Insert Image" then selected pdf file
- saved the odt and closed it
- reopened the file
the pdf inside appeared

Also, please try with version 5.4.4

The bug regarding PDF files cannot be known since 2012 because inserting PDFs as images was only introduced in 5.3

Change back to UNCONFIRMED, if the problem persists. Change to RESOLVED WORKSFORME, if the problem went away.
