On ubuntu 17.10 Xorg while using writer or other suites on windows like SaveAs, File format selection listbox background comes balck and the options in the list have gray color make it difficult to see.
I do not see this problem under Ubuntu 16.04 with Unity but I see it with at least another software (grsync). I guess the problem comes from an update of a GTK3 library. Please could you check if you encounter the same problem with other softwares? Set status to NEEDINFO, please set it back to UNCONFIRMED once requested informations are provided. Best regards. JBF
