two documents, one with the correct table, one with the corrupted

please find attached 2 documents

Document created by OO 4.1.0:
destroyed_pictures_in_a_table_1.doc = pictures are ok
Opening this document by LO 5.4.3.2 will show everything correctly

Now the above document was opened and edited by LO 5.4.3.2:
Some text was added to the table fields where the pictures are located.
After saving the document and reopening it you will see the destroyed pictures:
destroyed_pictures_in_a_table_2.doc = pictures are destroyed

With OO I never had a problem with Pictures in a Table.
Also with MS Word I did not have that problem.
(But at the moment I cannot test it, because I do not have MS Word any more)

Two years ago I wanted to switch from OO to LO and I had the same problem.
So I continued working with OO. At that time I did not create a bug report.
Now I wanted to switch again to LO, because of the supported DOCX format,
but the picture problem was still the old one.

Thanks and regards

Not reproducible for me with

Version: 5.4.4.2 (x64)
Build-ID: 2524958677847fb3bb44820e40380acbe820f960
CPU-Threads: 4; BS: Windows 6.19; UI-Render: Standard;
Gebietsschema: de-DE (de_DE); Calc: group

Can you provide a clearer set of step-by-step instructions for "Some text was added to the table fields where the pictures are located. After saving the document and reopening it you will see the destroyed pictures"

Problem may occur when switch editing between LibreOffice and OpenOffice
- maybe also under other conditions.

Libre Office  portable, Version: 5.4.3.2
Build-ID: 92a7159f7e4af62137622921e809f8546db437e5
CPU-Threads: 2; Betriebssystem:Windows 6.1; UI-Render: Standard;
Gebietsschema: de-DE (de_DE); Calc: group

OO 4.1.0

Screenshots to the following procedure as well as the test documents you will find in the attached zipfile, 115412_180205a_screenshots.doc

how to reproduce:
-----------------
create new document 115412_180205b_1oo.doc with open office
- add a table with one cell
- insert to this cell a bitmap, e.g. from a screenshot
- save document

open  115412_180205b_1oo.doc with libre office
- allign bitmap left in cell
- save document to 115412_test5c_1oo_2lo.doc

open 115412_180205c_1oo_2lo.doc with open office
- enter "1" below the bitmap
- save it as 115412_180205d_1oo_2lo_3oo.doc and reopen the document by open office or libre office

then you will see the corrupted picture in the cell

Not reproducible for me with

AOO 4.1.5 and LO 5.3.2.1; LO master
Comment 6 sey0626 2018-02-07 21:11:13 UTC
I tried the described sequence again. This time on a different HW and SW environment
- Windows 10 home, 64 bit
- OO 4.1.4
- LO 5.4.3.2 portable, same as in test from 2018-02-05

Following the 2018-02-05 sequence, the problem with the destroyed pictures (or somehow a showing problem) in a table is still available and reproducable on my side.

The bug might also be caused by a erroneous behaviour of OO, but I'm not able to evluate this. So if you cannot reproduce, I will interrupt my tests.

Thanks for your efforts.

AOO and LibreOffice are pretty divergent at this point. You are talking about saving to an ancient Microsoft binary format from AOO. I think this would be more relevant, if the .doc was coming straight out of Microsoft Word.

Let's close this.
