Description public 2018-02-08 11:20:57 UTC
Description:
If you invoke "save as...", click on an existing file, then adjust the filename in the filename text input box (GNOME Shell dialog) and hit enter, it will not create a new file with that name, but either overwrite the file you originally selected, or even a different one in that folder.

Does not happen with other software, like Gedit.

What do you mean by adjust the filename?

In the GNOME save dialog[1], there's a text input. If you click on a file, that text input will contain the name of the file you clicked. I then edit that filename in that text box and press enter.

So you mean:
1. Click on save icon
2. Select an already existing file
3. Change the name on the filename text input box
4. Save

??

I don't reproduce it in

Version: 6.1.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: 37a2830387f437cf57104f7f509ec59944004e4d
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 4.13; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3;
Locale: ca-ES (ca_ES.UTF-8); Calc: group

Could you also copy the info from Help - About LibreOffice ?

I've already posted that under "Additional Info", but here it is again:

Version: 5.4.4.2
Build-ID: 5.4.4.2-4.fc27
CPU-Threads: 4; BS: Linux 4.14; UI-Render: Standard; VCL: gtk3;
Locale: de-DE (de_DE.UTF-8); Calc: group

In your 4th step you simply write "save". Did you press the enter key while the focus is on the text box as I described or did you click the "Save" button? I use the native GNOME dialog, not the LibreOffice one.

Oh, sorry, I didn't see the additional info...

Yes, clicking Enter from the textbox saves the document with the new name.
Does it happen with any other software installed ?

Others work fine.

But strangely, I can't reproduce the problem today either. Something must have triggered the issue, but I don't know what. It was happening, I'm sure. :-/

Did it happen again since then ?

Can't say since I've been using the LibreOffice dialog since then, which is all kinds of broken, too, but I haven't had the bug since, no.

Closing as RESOLVED WORKSFORME then.
Please move it back to UNCONFIRMED if you reproduce the issue again...
