Description Charvelx04 2018-03-03 09:50:17 UTC
Description:
LibreOffice will crash when trying to open the main menu of the program via the Start Menu icon.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click on Start Menu
2. Scroll down to LibreOffice
3. Click on icon to start LibreOffice's main menu page.

Actual Results:
Simply click on: Start.. scroll down to LibreOffice, open the folder, click on LibreOffice. Crashes with an error associated with soffice.bin.
Error code: 0xc0000142

Expected Results:
I would expect the application to open correctly the first time I click on it. This is an "in your face" kind of bug.. not something you'd find clicking options deep within the program.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
After clicking OK on the bug window... I can then retry the application, in which case it opens to the primary menu screen.

This has happened since the first installment of LibreOffice v6. v5 did not have this issue.

I have reset the user profile per instructions on the Wiki page.

I will report back within a few days, to let you all know if the issue(s) have been resolved.

Also note: The wiki page should be updated.. as the Windows section on where the local profile is located,.. the path should be updated as follows.

Currently:
Windows
%APPDATA%\libreoffice\4\user (LibreOffice 4, 5 & 6)

Should be:
Windows
%APPDATA%\Roaming\libreoffice\4\user (LibreOffice 4, 5 & 6)
(or - Users\%profile name%\AppData\Roaming\libreoffice\4\user)

Maybe add instructions on how to access the AppData folder as it's hidden by default.

I appreciate your time in looking into my issue.. thank you!

You can also delete the profile from the safe mode dialog ( Help - Safe mode )
Comment 5 Charvelx04 2018-03-09 19:16:56 UTC
I chose this method:

Start, LibreOffice > LibreOffice Safe Mode

Reset to factory settings:
	Reset entire user profile

I have kept the back up of the previous profile in case it was needed for support.

I will report back by tomorrow, for more information, or to close this ticket.

Thank you!

I have continued to use the program.. and I have not run across the issue again as of yet.

I believe we can go ahead and close this ticket. If I run across the same thing, I will repeat the steps you have all shown me.

Thanks again, for the helpful response and tips!
