Just for the test, could you rename your LO directory profile (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#Windows) and give a new try?

Also, is Java installed?
FYI, if you use LO 32 bits, you must have a Java 32 bits
... LO 64 bits... Java 64 bits.
Comment 2 MrChang 2018-03-09 08:00:41 UTC
Thank you for your hints.

I renamend the LO profile.
Problem stays.

I am on Arch Linux 64 bit with LO still installed via pacman.
Output of java -version:
openjdk version "1.8.0_162"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_162-b12)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.162-b12, mixed mode)

"Use a Java-Runtime-Environment" is ticked in the advanced preferences.

Alternatively I tried with Oracle JREs in the /opt-Folder.
Problem stays.

Which version of LibreOffice are you using - the one provided by Arch, or the TDF download ?

Sounds to me from the description that you have a fallback to the old C++ ReportWriter (which used to be integrated into older versions of LibreOffice, and was subsequently removed).

Also please indicate which version of the ReportBuilder you are using. Check your system to ensure that there are no conflicts.

Setting to NEEDINFO pending requested information.

If the problems lie with the packages provided by Arch, then this is not a LibreOffice bug and will be closed as such.
Comment 5 MrChang 2018-03-09 09:51:42 UTC
I use the version provided by arch:
https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/libreoffice-still/

Where can I find the version of the ReportBuilder?

So, I'm assuming that you haven't installed the Arch package for the ReportBuilder then ?

I don't know how Arch packages its software, but it should be called something like :

libreoffice-report-builder and/or libreoffice-report-builder-bin

Thank you very much for your reply!

Meanwhile I opened the following bug report:
https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/57765

Unfortunately: Such an additional package doesn't exist in Arch. Somewhere I read that the Oracle Report Builder is now part of the LO package ...

In an earlier Arch-Version (virtual machine) with libreoffice-still 5.3.7.2 the Oracle Report Builder works OTB without a separate package.

Sounds like Arch didn't provide the report-builder extension with their build release so no much we can do, I'm afraid.

One last thing, if you start LibreOffice and open up the Extensions Manager GUI, do you see the ReportBuilder listed ? If not, then Arch forgot to include it in their build release...if yes, then there is some other conflict/problem.

The Report Builder Extension isn't listed there.

BTW: Are you sure, that it should be listed there. On my Lubuntu LibreOffice the Oracle Report Builder works fine and is not listed in the extension manager GUI.

You're right. The report-builder isn't included in the build release.
