Description hugh 2018-03-20 02:32:57 UTC
Description:
When attempting to merge row cells in Calc only the Merge & Center function occurs.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. select several row cells
2. select Merge cells in the Format/Merge option
3. either start entering text in selected merge cell or go back to Format/Merge to see what is set.

Actual Results:
Entered text is centered in the merged cell. Format/Merge shows Merge and Center is selected.

Expected Results:
Text entered should not be centered in the merged cells.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Text entered should fill the merged cell and wrap if wrap is selected.

This happen with 6.0.2 version, but why this behaviour should change, it's the usual having centered the merged cells content. And it's only one click change the align.

So clearly not a bug, as much a request for enhancemente, about what I'm disagree.

@m.a.riosv

point taken, thanks for the explanation, and so for me also not a bug

Best regards

Menu Format-Merge Cells has "Merge Cells" and "Merge and Center Cells".
Both work as expected. "Merge Cells" is not centered.

It's true that even "Merge Cells" command turns on "Merge and Center Cells" icon.
So I'll rephrase the bug, change th4 title and confirm:

1. Via Customize Toolbar add icon with command Format-Merge Cells (in addition to existing "Merge and Center Cells" icon)
2. select two row cells with some text
3a. select Format-Merge Cells-Merge Cells OR
3b click "Merge Cells" icon

Actual Results: Text is properly merged and aligned, but "Merge and Center Cells" is pressed

Expected Results: "Merge and Center Cells" should not be pressed and "Merge Cells" icon should be pressed.

I tested with master 61+ but please test again.

Menu issue started in LO 3.3 when Menu Format-Merge Cells was created.
But icon issue inherited from OO 3.3.

Dear hugh,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword
