Description: = Feature Request == Active Cell Reference (Name Box) Increase the usability of the Name box: 1. Make the Name box resizable, so it can be made larger. 2. Only show names that are applicable to the sheet. That would be names that have scope global and names where scope is equal to the sheet name. All other names should be filtered out. Currently all named variables appear in the list. == Manage Names Dialog 1. Add a Value column to show the contents of the named variable (Range or formula expression). Please see image. Page 7 - Publication "Getting Started with Calc", calls it Active cell reference (Name box). https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/images/5/5c/GS5205-GettingStartedWithCalc.pdf This is my first feature request and was unsure how to post, and concluded since they all belonged to the same object (named box) I went with one. Should I create separate requests now for these, or just remember to create separate entires for future requests?
Ok, let's involve the UX team and they can comment on the other proposals as well (before they are split into their own reports).
(In reply to russell from comment #3) > This is my first feature request... Congratulations! And many thanks for your enhancement ideas. > 1. Make the Name box resizable, so it can be made larger. The "name box" as the tooltip calls it is a dropdown control. Those are static controls, sized for the best fit (e.g. made smaller recently for bug 90487). There are no means for a dynamical resizing, i.e. a splitter on the right side where you can adjust the width to your needs (and that would affect all toolbars). While suggestion for a solution is great you should always make clear what the issue is (use case). Guess you cannot read long names, and a (bad) alternative could be to abbreviate the text with ellipsis. > 2. Only show names that are applicable to the sheet. Ideally you add an exemplary sheet for this issue. > 1. Add a Value column to show the contents of the named variable (Range or > formula expression). Sheet > Named Ranges and Expressions > Manage (ctrl+F3); such a column can become really large and you jump to the position on selection. So what's the advantage?
