Description Michael E Rupp 2018-04-07 03:58:09 UTC
Hello,
I'm a huge fan/promoter of LibreOffice. Started with StarOffice, and I'm still with you. Currently, I'm using Collabora via my NextCloud server. It's so exciting! Cloud Power in the hands of ordinary people!

I might be acting like a whiny baby, but I can't believe how much I liked having the ability to work in a spreadsheet with the freeze feature available. I've used the freeze feature in many ways for specific applications. Often I freeze an arbitrary number of rows because I have subtotal type formulas above the column names for the auto-filter. Sometimes I have rows above the formulas doing things that I don't want to see so I'll freeze the rows in a way that I freeze rows 4 & 5 but 1-3 are up out of sight.

Not like I'm going to stop using Collabora because of this, but it definitely bugs me and I think it would bug people I used to make managerial spreadsheets for.

due to the technique used, scrolling is relatively slow, hence scrolling back and forth to see column and row headers is not an option.

please implement freeze column and rows also in Online as it is available in the desktop version

Well, the Collabora representation of LibreOffice in Nextcloud is getting better all the time, but the column and/or row freeze option isn't available through them yet.
Comment 6 Ferdinand 2019-04-09 07:23:41 UTC
is it planned in the near future ?

otherwise I have to move away and use something different.

my users are complaining

I think it should be one of the highest rated missing features

CODE 4.0.5 uses collabora 6.0-29

IIRC somewhere it was mentioned that the rows/columns freeze feature should be available in collabora 6

but unfortunately not

I haven't seen it in the menus either.

The relevant version is the Online part, which is 4.0.5 for CODE. The feature needs to be developed in online as well, not in core.

just installed 4.0.6 - much faster, it's such a pity that rows/columns freeze feature is not available.

One of my Users also complained about not having this feature available. It makes working with large spreadsheets so much easier, especially on smaller screens.
Comment 13 Lgnch 2020-01-27 03:14:51 UTC
We also have a need for this from clients. The feature is in Google Docs

Google docs editor see section To move a row or column:
https://edu.gcfglobal.org/en/googlespreadsheets/modifying-columns-rows-and-cells/1/

Libre office is reported, but i have not confirmed, to have the functionality using ALT but it is not present in the connector. https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/150781/how-freeze-both-multiple-number-of-row-and-columns/

Sorry I posted the wrong description URL. See my description here https://github.com/nextcloud/richdocuments/issues/784
