Description rkoski 2018-04-23 15:16:18 UTC
Description:
Hi
I use a specific language for date formats in may date cells, which is Portuguese Brazil
I set the Format to DD/MMM/AAAA.
When I close the tool (Libreoffice Calc) the language definition I defined for the cells is lost and is set back to English (USA), causing my cells to lost the date format.
The format is kept (DD/MMM/AAAA), but the language is lost
What can I do to keep the language too ?
Thanks

Steps to Reproduce:
1.put a date in a cell
2.Set the date format to DD/MMM/AAAA (AAAA = Portuguese for YYYY)
3.Set the Language to Portuguese (Brasil)
4.Save the format
5.Enter a date in the cell in which the day is later than 12, like 13/04/20018 (which in Portuguese format stands for April, 13th)
6.Save the sheet and close LibreOffice Calc
7.Reopen Calc/Sheet

Actual Results:
Same as above

Expected Results:
After reopening Cacl, see that the cell will lose its date format and will now be understood as a text.
The Language of the date format is set back to English (USA)
In this set up, the date entered, 13/04/2018, the 13 will be understood as a month, and as there is no 13th month, it converts the date to text.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Hi,

use cell styles for your date cells and they will still be date's and not text format or reset to us format when you reopen your file. So for me its not a bug.

Version: 6.1.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: 6a3d2dea1da847f5bd6674b344162f087cceda8b
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 4.14; UI render: default; VCL: kde4;
Locale: nl-BE (en_US.UTF-8); Calc: group

If you or not agree you can reopen the report

Hi
No luck with Cell Styles.
Still same issue.
I set a new one, using Language as Portuguese Brazil and applied it to the cell.
I closed Calc and when I opened it, the language was set back to English.
Thanks

Indeed, your file does keep the format
Also, it does keep the format in a new file I just created.
It looks like it happens only with older files I have created in the past.
Might that be a problem with my version ?
It looks old (V 5.0.6.2).
Comment 6 Xavier Van Wijmeersch 2018-04-23 17:44:23 UTC
Yes its old if you can upgrade to 5.4.6.2 or 6.0.3.2

https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/
and i close it again but with WFM

Hi Xavier
The problem is that unfortunately there is no more recent version of it in my company repository, and that is the only source I can install software from.
When a new one is available, I will try upgrading and see if it solves the problem.
You can close this case, please
Thanks

Not sure, but you could try working around it by using an Appimage: https://www.libreoffice.org/download/appimage
It does not require installing anything. Only set the file as executable and it runs.
