I recently installed Ubuntu on my machine, which came with the LibreOffice suite. None of the components will open - clicking on a launcher, the banner displays but then nothing. In a terminal, the messages below are printed out and then nothing. I have tried purging and reinstalling but the problem remains. /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/javaldx: /usr/local/lib/libxml2.so.2: no version information available (required by /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/libjvmfwklo.so) /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin: /usr/local/lib/libxml2.so.2: no version information available (required by /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/libmergedlo.so) /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin: /usr/local/lib/libxml2.so.2: no version information available (required by /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/libmergedlo.so) /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin: /usr/local/lib/libxml2.so.2: no version information available (required by /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/libmergedlo.so) /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin: /usr/local/lib/libxml2.so.2: no version information available (required by /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/libmergedlo.so) /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin: /usr/local/lib/libxml2.so.2: no version information available (required by /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/libmergedlo.so) /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin: /usr/local/lib/libxml2.so.2: no version information available (required by /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libxslt.so.1) /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin: /usr/local/lib/libxml2.so.2: no version information available (required by /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libxslt.so.1) /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin: /usr/local/lib/libxml2.so.2: no version information available (required by /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libxslt.so.1) /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin: /usr/local/lib/libxml2.so.2: no version information available (required by /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libxslt.so.1) /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin: /usr/local/lib/libxml2.so.2: no version information available (required by /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libxslt.so.1) /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin: /usr/local/lib/libxml2.so.2: no version information available (required by /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libxslt.so.1) /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin: /usr/local/lib/libxml2.so.2: no version information available (required by /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libxslt.so.1) /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin: /usr/local/lib/libxml2.so.2: no version information available (required by /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libxslt.so.1) /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin: /usr/local/lib/libxml2.so.2: no version information available (required by /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libxslt.so.1) /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin: /usr/local/lib/libxml2.so.2: no version information available (required by /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libxslt.so.1) /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin: /usr/local/lib/libxml2.so.2: no version information available (required by /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libxslt.so.1) /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin: /usr/local/lib/libxml2.so.2: no version information available (required by /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/libjvmfwklo.so) /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin: /usr/local/lib/libxml2.so.2: no version information available (required by /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/liblangtag.so.1) /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin: /usr/local/lib/libxml2.so.2: no version information available (required by /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/liblangtag.so.1) /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin: relocation error: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libxslt.so.1: symbol xmlBufUse, version LIBXML2_2.9.0 not defined in file libxml2.so.2 with link time reference
Did you download LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/ ?
I think the initial installation came with Ubuntu or was added via the Ubuntu Software application. Subsequent installations trying to fix the problem were using sudu apt-get install. I have never explicitly downloaded it from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/.
It's not very likely that Ubuntu ships with LO not working out of the box. And you didn't specify versions and how you installed Ubuntu, did you pick for packages. What you are reporting looks like a need for help that you may get at https://ask.libreoffice.org and not a bug report.
(In reply to Martin Vaughan from comment #0) > /usr/local/lib/libxml2.so.2: no version information available (required by > /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/libmergedlo.so) It appears that you manually installed some software (not from your distro repository) into /usr/local, which isn't compatible with the distro provided LO. I would suggest to cleanup /usr/local from that software, or otherwise make sure LO doesn't pick libs from /usr/local/lib.
