Would it be possible to retrieve a backtrace (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugReport/Debug_Information#macOS:_How_to_get_debug_information)

Unfortunately there was no screen to “Report To Apple’ that came up
My memory says it was a window that said that there was an unexplained fault but the work would be recovered.
The. It took me to a recovery screen and on two occasions I had to Force Quit Libreoffice.

If it would be of help when I have finished the project I’m on I could reinstall the latest version of Libreoffice again and see if I could replicate the fault and take some screenshots and send them on to you.

So which version are you using now?

Could you please paste the info from Help - about LibreOffice ?
