Description: LO inserts different ‘Apostrophe’ characters [Unicode: U+0027] for the same font (tested with Liberation Serif, Times New Roman & Minion Pro). It differs by the way you insert the character. A.) Inserting it by pressing ALT+0039 B.) Inserting it via the ‘Special characters’ menu and clicking on the character. (The menu presents the same decimal value [39]) Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start Writer 2. Click on new document 3. Enter APOSTROPHE by pressing ALT+0039 4. Open ‚Special Characters‘ menu 5. Click on APOSTROPHE icon in the first line → The preview window on the right shows a different looking character with the same decimal value (39) 6. If you insert it into the document, you have two different APOSTROPHE characters next to each other. Actual Results: You get different characters for the same unicode (and same font, of course). The special character dialog inserts the chosen character without any changes as expected. Pressing Alt+0039 inserts the character as if it is done by key press. And in that case AutoCorrect is triggered and it exchanges the straight apostrophe by the curly one. The replacement settings are in menu Tools > AutoCorrect > AutoCorrect Options > tab Localized Options.
