It should be possible to select an own image for the signature, like a scanned image of the handwritten signature.

In addition to this, it would be nice to be able to import a signature from a signature pad.

Good idea, but please open a new issue for that. It's out of scope here.

Samuel Mehrbrodt committed a patch related to this issue.
It has been pushed to "master":

It will be available in 6.2.0.

The patch should be included in the daily builds available at
https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/ in the next 24-48 hours. More

Affected users are encouraged to test the fix and report feedback.
