Description: Whenever i open a sheet value highlighting is enabled. I have checked the tools:options settings and it is unchecked. Doesn't matter what I do it always is on when a sheet is opened. I switch it off and all is normal and save and close the sheet only to find it on again on re-opening. Sheets are savesd in XLXs format for compatibility. Steps to Reproduce: 1.open spreadsheet (any will do) 2.value highlighting is enabled 3.switch off highlighting (Ctrl-F8) 4. close sheet 5. re-open and is ecivent again. Actual Results: as above. Same happenes with a new spreadsheet value highlighting is enabled by default even though switched off in options. Expected Results: After switching off value highlighting for a sheet and also ensuring in tools:options:calc:view that it is unchecked value highlighting should not occur unless specifically switched on either in the sheet or in the options. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: as above
Do you encounter the same behavior with document saved in OpenDocument format (.ods for spreadsheets)? Did you try in safe mode? Menu Help > Restart in Safe Mode... Status set to NEEDINFO, please set it back to UNCONFIRMED once requested informations are provided. Best regards. JBF
saving and re-opening in ODS format is OK. seems only m$ compatible format is affected. as workaround will only use ODS format and only use m$ formats when required for external use. Did try safe mode with no change.

It is the right way to work with LibreOffice: always use the OpenDocument Format (no conversion each time you open or save your document) and export (keep the original in ODF) to a foreign format only when you need to provide your document to user unable to edit ODF files. If the user has only to read the document, you should prefer PDF format instead of OOXML. Best regards. JBF

Xisco, plese see comment 3. sheets saved in M$ format are the issue. sheets saved in native LO format do not have the issue. Obviously a format translation issue. As the translation still has a problem the issue should remain open until this is fixed.
Tested with Version: 6.2.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID: 53eda574a61396b6765cd1cb0ac9804c754ac4c1 CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 4.4; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3; and xlsx file. But my file is not originally created in ms office, maybe that's the reason why I can not reproduce it. Value highlighting is not saved in xlsx in my case. I tried to turn it on. Please attach test file with value highlighting turned on. Filetype xlsx. Thank you. https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FAQ#How_can_I_eliminate_confidential_data_from_a_sample_document.3F
Created attachment 144276 [details] sample file that was created with highlighting off in Tools|options but values were still highlighted when first entered. Hi Raal, My spreadsheet was created in LO. I am currently using Version: 6.1.0.2 Even with Value highlighting switched off in Tools|options Starting a new sheet and inputting numbers seems to switch highlighting back on. If i save and re-open it all is OK. The bug seems a little more subtle than just in the translation to .xlxs which I originally found I've attached the simple trial sheet i used today giving the above result. Seems I may have to explicitly switch off value highlighting when i create a new sheet as the global option appears to be ignored. I hope this helps.
Hello Stephen, So I have to open the attached document, paste it into a new spreadsheet and the highlight will be enabled again? I can't reproduce it in Version: 6.2.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID: 401cba4c20fbc930f034168872642428d7459218 CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 4.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3; Locale: ca-ES (ca_ES.UTF-8); Calc: threaded

I have found since logging this bug that it only applies to M$ formatted spreadsheets. As I had to maintain compatibility with a windows environment I used the m$ format. Since changing to .ods I have not seen the issue. It still occurs on .xlsx formatted sheets but i just turn it off and then save as .ods I believe this bug is relatively minor and could possibly be closed.
