Description:
When adding cell borders via Format Cells > Borders the default width is set at 0.75pt. If using the Borders tool bar the default width is set to .05pt. Shouldn't they be the same?

I normally use the Borders Tool to create cell borders. Until a couple of versions ago, this what not a problem. The 0.05pt with is causing a problem with one spreadsheet I have with four sheets. The line between row 23 and 24 is not printing. It is visible with Print Preview and the preview show on the print dialog. I have tried several things to fix this, including creating a new sheet, copying the text (Text Only) over, then creating the lines using the Borders Tool. The line between row 23 and 24 still does not print. All the other lines do print. This happens only on two sheets in the spreadsheet. I created a new spreadsheet, copied the text over (Text Only) in this case the line no printed was between row 22 & 23. Then created a new spreadsheet, did nothing to it except add lines for a cells from to row 41 and to column G, the line is missing when printed between row 31 and 32. I also did this in Safe-Mode and the problem persist.

This problem is solved by using Format Cells > Borders and increasing Width to the next value from 0.05pt to 0.25pt.

I have a number of spreadsheets, all border lines have been created the same way using the Borders Tool. The all print okay. It's just this one that doesn't.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a new spreadsheet
2. Add lines from row 1 to row 40, column A to G using the Border Tool lower right tool.
3. Print.

Actual Results:
The line between row 32 and 33 does not print.

Expected Results:
The line between row 32 and 33 should print.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
I did not actually reset my profile, I did follow the instructions and since the problem persisted in Safe-Mode.

Requested sample.

New at filing bugs, sample as requested. I also have the printed copy and can scan and send if desired. Of note, I printed another copy with column and row headers enabled, in that print job the line between row 31 and 32 was missing vice 32 and 33.

Printed on my Canon LBP7018C and it came out fine.
Do you also see the problem in a PDF, if you select "Print to file" instead of your printer model?

I have a Canon PIXMA MP258. I printed to file (PDF) and then printed that. The result was worse; top line of row 1 missing, line between rows 7 and 8 is missing and 32 and 33.

Since I have Windows 7 installed in a VirtualBox VM I decided to try the manual print head alignment procedure for this printer, automatic previously done. It did not change any thing.

I am mystified as to why this missing line only occurs with one (make that two) spreadsheet. This spreadsheet is for daily inventories, there are four sheets. It is used as a master for making copies. It is printed only when changes have been make to inventory items, the last being June 22, 2018. On the inventory sheets, the missing line is located on sheet 2, 3 and 4 between rows 12 and 13 on those sheets, sheet 1 prints okay. I printed another spreadsheet, it only has one sheet, this sheet has previously printed okay, last printed March 12, 2018. This time it did not print okay. No line printed between rows 4 and 5, 12 and 13, missing bottom of row 55 (long bond paper).

I took the PDF file that was created by "Print to file" and took it to an Internet Cafe today for printing. It printed fine, no missing lines. At this point I am willing to concede that my printer may very well be the problem.

As I mentioned in my first comment, this problem goes away if I use a thicker line width. In this case increasing from 0.05 pt to 0.25 pt (the next increment). I can work around this.

Questions. In a new spreadsheet, a cell on an existing spreadsheet that has not had formatting applied or after applying the context menu item "Clear Direct Formatting"; the default line width is 0.75 pt on the "Format Cells...", Borders tab. When adding borders using the Borders Toolbar the line width is set at 0.05 pt.
Why is that? A bug perhaps?
Shouldn't they be the same? Seem to me they should be be the same.

Is there a way to set the default line width of the Borders Toolbar?
Format Cells..., Borders?

Thanks. (LOL I wasted a lot of ink and paper troubleshooting this. LOL)

It sounds like this: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116237#c5

I remember in the past reading about these printer issues, where the printer was unable to produce lines that were too thin. I guess we will call it a bug in the printer hardware and close.

I checked my records to see when I purchased this printer, April 6, 2010. It may be wearing out. Never had problems printing the spreadsheets before on this printer.

I looked at that bug, it's close but not quite. I think I will create a new one.

I upgraded to Version: 6.1.2.1 after opening this bug and changed the Version accordingly, notice you set it back. Guess I wasn't supposed to do that was I. <grin>

Is there a way to set the default line width in Calc?

Yep, version is for oldest affected, like it says.

For default width, create a blank file, change the default cell style to make it wider, then save the file as a template: https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/76025/calc-way-to-set-default-border-outline-width-thickness/

Not sure how I missed that, it's pretty clear.

Thanks, I was looking in to templates yesterday.
