Description: When using the assistant, if I select a cell and then want to complete the parameter, the cursor is on the selected cell, I have to move forward the cursor to type the rest of the parameter. If I don't move forward the cursor, the selected cell is deleted. It's very unconvenient for beginners that do not understand why the selected cell disappears when typing the rest of the parameter. Steps to Reproduce: 1.open assistant 2.select a function 3.select a cell 4. the cursor is on the selected cell 5. start typing : the selected cell disappears Actual Results: the selected cell disappears because the cursor is on it Expected Results: the cursor should be after the selected cell to continue typing the parameters without having to move it manually Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Version: 6.0.7.3 (x64) Build ID: dc89aa7a9eabfd848af146d5086077aeed2ae4a5 Threads CPU : 2; OS : Windows 6.1; UI Render : par défaut; Locale : fr-FR (fr_FR); Calc: group
Created attachment 146819 [details] the cell is selected, the cursor should be one step forward to allow typing directly
already reproducible with OOo, but I am not sure if this can be seen as a bug.
I just see it as very non user friendly. How having the cell selected should help the user ?
Dear hug.charlotte@gmail.com, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone! After the cell picker is closed (respectively the shrunken wizard becomes expanded again), the focus is on the reference field with full selection. It provides the ability to change the referenced range manually into a larger number. Full selection makes it also possible to change the reference completely. The behavior is wanted and working well => NAB.
I do not see this way : I use Libre Office Calc everyday with my students and in my job. I use the wizard to ease my tasks and work more efficiently. 1 - select cell through wizard 2 - move cursor after the focus 3 - enter the rest of the parameters is longer than : 1 - select cell through wizard 2 - enter the rest of the parameters The argument of changing the cell is not right to me : there are more chances of selecting the right cells directly, than needing to correct them. In case of wrong selection, users need to select the reference field and select the right cells again. The case of good use should prevail over the case of misuse. I don't know if I am clear.
