Comment 2 Dieter 2018-11-23 13:16:35 UTC
Can't confirm this with

Version: 6.2.0.0.beta1 (x64)
Build ID: d1b41307be3f8c19fe6f1938cf056e7ff1eb1d18
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0; UI render: default; VCL: win;
Locale: en-US (de_DE); UI-Language: en-GB
Calc: threaded

But I must admit, that step 5 is not clear enough to me.
Comment 3 Bich 30 2018-11-23 13:40:00 UTC
It is not possible to insert an input field already created in another part of the document.

How insert un input field that already exists?

It is possible to mark that field => copy => paste
Comment 5 Bich 30 2018-11-23 14:43:55 UTC
This can be done if a input field already exists in the document, but if it has been deleted, how can I add it again without having to create it from 0?

I don't think that this is possible, but i also wouldn't expect it. You also can't insert the same table, shape or something like that, if you have removed it.
Comment 8 Bich 30 2018-11-26 08:56:59 UTC
The Version: 6.0.6.2 it's afected.

Attach screenshot.

This is a field, in the same way that the variable type fields appear, the input list fields should appear.

Screehshot for the bug in the version 6.3
Comment 16 Xisco Faulí 2018-12-17 11:58:21 UTC
Hi Bich 30,
if you want to edit the current field, go to context menu - Edit fields...
If you want to create a new list field, go to Insert - Field - More field - Functions - Input list.
Closing as RESOLVED NOTABUG
Comment 17 Bich 30 2018-12-21 07:52:35 UTC
Hi Xisco,
I do not want to edit the "Input List" type field.
I know how to create fields of type "Input List".
I want to see the "Input List" type fields in the document in the same way as the "variable" type fields.
Comment 18 Mike Sapsard 2019-01-19 18:19:15 UTC
In 6.1.4.2 Release in Linux Mint 19.1 Cinnamon under Insert there is no Fields dialog. It is not possible to enter (say) page count in a footer.

I tried to copy and paste from an earlier document, but it did not work.

Not reproduced. The field appears even if I do not enter any items or a name in the dialog.

In this case, something must be broken in your install. The menu entry is Insert - Field and it is the 4th last entry. You could try in Safe mode, Help - Restart in safe mode and then Continue in safe mode.

Maybe Bich 30 could try Safe mode as well.
Set to NEEDINFO.
Change back to UNCONFIRMED after you have provided further testing information.

Comment 20 Mike Sapsard 2019-01-27 14:10:35 UTC
I removed and reloaded 6.1.4.2 and 'Insert | Fields' is now there.
Comment 21 Bich 30 2019-01-29 08:05:03 UTC
The problem is that the fields type input list created in the document do not appear. In case you have several fields input list ready in the document, I can not insert them in the corresponding place because they do not appear in the "menu entry is Insert - Field and it is the 4th last entry"

All the tests are done with a new appimage, not with an existing installation. And in the safe mode too.

Buovjaga and Mike Sapsard, please, attach a screen capture where you can see the fields input list that have been created in a document.

The version is indiferent. It's not working never ever.

Ok, I get it: you were still talking about the *previously inserted fields*, while I thought you were unable to insert anything. Why not talk about all the functions, then? They all behave the same after all. You can't see them in the dialog later on.

I don't know enough about the topic to comment on why this is.
Comment 24 Mike Kaganski 2019-01-29 09:56:41 UTC
If I understand correctly, the OP's idea is to use the text entered into the Input fields elsewhere, and so OP looks for some reference to the already placed Input fields to place their contents in a new place?

Input fields on Functions tab are just placeholder for some text that is only needed in one single place. They are simply not designed to be referenced. The "Reference" box naming in the field is unfortunate, and does not mean anything related to possibility to link to that field later. It is just "a hint to user" which would appear when cursor is inside the field, or when the field's edit dialog is shown (like "Enter your name here:").

There is another field type to use when a previously-set value should be shown elsewhere: it's on *Variables tab*, and it's *also named "Input field"*. But there it's linked to variables in the document; you create variables first using Set variable, then you offer user possibility to change it to their liking using the Input field from the same tab, and then you put Show variable fields wherever you need. You may repeat placing Input fields (from Variables) below, and the variable value would change starting from that point.

So I close this as NOTABUG. Please feel free to set back to UNCONFIRMED if you believe that it's wrong; then please describe clearly why.
