Version: 6.1.3.2 Build ID: 1:6.1.3-1 on Debian testing
Microsoft Powerpoint 2016 MSO (16.0.4266.1001) 64bit in VM
VM : Oracle virtualbox, Version 5.2.14(qT5.11.2) 2018

Take a powerpoint document (e.g. *.ppt or *.pptx) that has several slides, each of which shows a title.

Open in Impress.

Edit In Impress the text in the file in any minor way, and save the file still as *.ppt .

When the file is reopened within Windows Mspowerpoint, the Title objects will have been renamed, and the Outline view no longer shows any Titles, although there is still a text box object containing the text of the title on the slides.

They still exist and are seen in the slide view, but any global actions on "Titles" such as formatting those objects or including them in the Outline view does not show them.

If I reopen this modified file in Impress, is does not show titles in the Outline view either.

Screen shots are available.

I have been told that opening PPT files on some tablets or phones does something similar, but I cannot verify that.

This a major nuisance and major hurdle to collaborations with file exchanges.
