Description Marcel Waldvogel 2018-12-04 16:26:17 UTC
Description:
When opening the "File Open" dialog on a maximized ("full-screen") 4K window, the window contents change to what they were displaying before.

E.g., if a presentation is opened from the "Recent Files" welcome screen, then the window switches to that presentation (obviously). When selecting "Open File" now, the background of the window reverts (amazingly) back to the "Recent Files" display.

This does not happen when full-screen on a smaller monitor and when not full-screen on the 4K monitor. It also does not happen with LO 6.1.2.1.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start LibreOffice
2. Open a presentation (any presentation)
3. Close this presentation
4. Back on the "Recent files" screen, press Ctrl-O
5. The background behind the "File Open" dialog will switch back to your (previously closed) presentation

Actual Results:
The previous window contents are displayed

Expected Results:
The current window contents should remain there

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
Please note that this only seems to happen on 4K monitors (in this case, 3840x2160 resolution). However, it is very confusing and may indicate a deeper problem somewhere else.

This also happens on other dialogs, e.g. when having selected part of a text for coloring, and then chosing "Font Color→Custom Color…" from the right pane, the "Pick a Color" dialog appears, but the slide content to be edited disappears.
Comment 2 Marcel Waldvogel 2018-12-07 09:35:16 UTC
Also happens when right-clicking in the slide text and selecting "Character" or "Paragraph". And probably any other dialog. Really annoying.

Does it work if you disable OpenGl ? -> https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/OpenGL

I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to
'UNCONFIRMED' if the issue is still present

(I do not have access to a 4K screen until mid January. I will follow up on the bug then. Please excuse the delay and enjoy the holidays! And thanks for all the good work on LibreOffice!)
Comment 5 Marcel Waldvogel 2018-12-22 12:51:20 UTC
BTW: If the View option "Use OpenGL for all rendering" is now called "Use hardware acceleration"[*], then I can confirm that disabling that setting does not fix the problem.

*: If so, please update https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/OpenGL#How_to_enable.2Fdisable_OpenGL

No, that is not related to the rendering of the UI itself in OpenGL. Probably your "OpenGL enabled: Yes" was a mistake and it is not enabled at all. We can find out, if you copy and paste here the contents of Help - About window (as plain text).

To get more testing results, you could try with a fresh 6.4 build as an appimage from https://libreoffice.soluzioniopen.com/

Set to NEEDINFO.
Change back to UNCONFIRMED, if the problem persists. Change to RESOLVED WORKSFORME, if the problem went away.
