Description Christian Lehmann 2018-12-20 13:45:15 UTC
Description:
I had LO 6.1.3.2 installed, with the German interface, and did not touch it in what follows. I downloaded the following version:
https://www.libreoffice.org/donate/dl/deb-x86_64/6.1.4/de/LibreOffice_6.1.4_Linux_x86-64_deb.tar.gz

and installed it, but did not download the German interface. The user interface of LibreOffice 6.1.4 should consequently be in English. At least two items are in German:

Menus of the top bar: Insert: Querverweis (should be Reference)
Formatting bar: Schrifteffekte (should be Font Effects).

I wonder whether these mistakes would happen were the German version not installed.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Have a German version installed.
2. Install new version in parallel and leave it in English.

Actual Results:
At least the two items mentioned above are in German.

Expected Results:
Everything should be in English.

Reproducible: Didn't try

User Profile Reset: No

Is the os/DE locale German?

What does the Tools -> Options -> Language Settings -> Languages panel show for the "User interface:" and "Locale setting:" fields?

You mean, whether my operating system is localized for German? Yes.

> What does the Tools -> Options -> Language Settings -> Languages panel show
> for the "User interface:"
Default - English (USA)

> and "Locale setting:" fields?
Default - German (Germany)

I did not touch these settings; they must have been set by the installer.

So does setting either "Locale setting" -> English (USA), or the "ignore system input language" on the same panel, bring up the UI fully in English?

Neither, not even after a restart of LO.
Comment 5 Christian Lehmann 2018-12-20 20:05:42 UTC
I have now uninstalled LO 4.1.3.2 and can report that the German words in the English user interface persist.

Christian, to be certain the reported issue is not
related to corruption in the user profile, could you please reset your
Libreoffice profile (https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile) and re-test?

I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to
'UNCONFIRMED' if the issue is still present
Comment 7 Christian Lehmann 2019-06-04 15:13:06 UTC
I've just installed LO 6.2.4.2, and the mistake persists.
in fact, unless I miss something, 'Querverweis' is the only German word in the English menus. Maybe it is a recent loan?
Comment 8 Christian Lehmann 2019-06-04 16:10:15 UTC
Well, and now that I reset my user profile, the problem is gone.
Strange kind of corruption.
