Description Jim Avera 2018-12-27 23:16:58 UTC
Description:
In Master, if you try to find out how to define custom colors you end up being presented with a WRITER-specific page which says to use Format-Area-Area, but there is no such option in the Format menu in Calc.

Please document what the procedure is for Calc. See attached spreadsheets for what Help currently shows.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Calc
2. Help->LibreOfficeDevHelp
3. In the Help window which opens in your browser:
3a) In the "Module" drop-down, select Calc
3b) Type "color" into the search box
      [see screenshot #1]
3c) Click "colors -- adding" under the CALC heading

Actual Results:
A help page is displayed which says to "Choose Format - Area -Area"
but there is no such option in the Format menu.

Expected Results:
Help should display information about how to define custom colors in Calc

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

I get a page https://help.libreoffice.org/6.3/en-US/text/shared/optionen/01010501.html?DbPAR=SHARED#bm_id3150771

Indeed, in part "To access this command" the hints are not specific enough. The dialog is only available, if there is something, that has an area fill or a background.

For Calc this can be a cell ("Choose Format - Cells - Background"), for Writer this can be the page ("Choose Format - Page - Area") or a paragraph ("Choose Format - Paragraph - Area"). Or it can be a selected shape ("Context menu - Area").

Screenshot showing the problem

The main problem here is that when you click the link (colors -- adding) listed under Calc, it still opens as SHARED, thus not showing information specific to Calc.

However, the Calc version does exist... it is just unreachable in this manner, which in my opinion may be a bug with how the Help indexes some pages.

Here you'll find relevant information for Calc, but I could not reach it by clicking the link in the Help.

See the attached image that better explains what I mean.
