Description Lifeisgreat 2019-01-08 13:43:40 UTC
Description:
I had a doc open in Writer and wanted to open another doc in Calc...it crashed the already open Writer doc...and I had to do recovery on the Writer doc and the empty Calc doc.

Then I tried to open an Empty Writer doc...and then open another Calc doc...again it crashed.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. eg. start empty Writer doc.
2. then start a new Calc doc

Actual Results:
it'll crash as you'll see. When you start Libreoffice up again it'll go into doc recovery mode and then you'll have both the docs open in Writer and Calc - this should be the correct action.

Expected Results:
It crashed Libreoffice totally...both Writer and Calc!

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
It should have both a Writer doc and a Calc doc open at the same time showing the latest doc you loaded or created.

Several things you may try:
1) upgrade to 6.1.4 since 6.0.7 is last LO version from 6.0 branch.
2) since you use OpenGL rendering, check you use the last graphic driver (it includes OpenGL and OpenCL parts)
3) take a look to https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FirstSteps if you still reproduce the crash after 1) and 2)

So please test in safe mode Menu/Help/Restart in Safe mode, with a clean profile.

Thank you for reporting the bug. To be certain the reported issue is not
related to corruption in the user profile, could you please reset your
Libreoffice profile ( https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile ) and
re-test?

I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to
'UNCONFIRMED' if the issue is still present

How do I make backup of my profile? what is store in my profile? only the settings which I can reproduce...or also the History of docs opened?
Comment 6 m_a_riosv 2019-01-10 17:05:49 UTC
You can do the backup through the Restart in Safe mode.
Through the link in comment#4 you can see about the user profile and their content.

Oki, I guess it solved it for some reason...at least it does not crash now. So not sure what had happened. It had been a while since I had restarted the laptop...

Sorry guys I know should have tried this first but I didn't think about even I'm an IT-guy myself :)

Thx BTW...love you guys' work with Libreoffice!
Have used it for several years now...it's getting better and better and I recommend it to everyone who asks for advice :)

Happy New Year to all of you :)

Since there's no specific fix, let's put this one to WFM then.
