Description Alan 2019-01-20 08:17:28 UTC
Cannot cut and paste whole rows and columns
Comment 1 BogdanB 2019-01-20 10:38:03 UTC
Please be more explicit with your problem. How many rows and columns do you have? What can not be pasted?...

If you can make a short video about your problem.
Comment 2 Alan 2019-01-20 16:03:09 UTC
LO Calc cut/copy rows/columns fails to paste. It appears to be a limitation on the SuSE clipboard. It works under Windows as LO has its own clipboard there.

Furthermore copying a cell/range pastes formulae first time then values subsequently.
Comment 3 Alan 2019-01-20 16:04:43 UTC
This bug was in previous releases of LO too.
Comment 4 Joao Farias 2019-01-20 20:28:15 UTC
Can't reproduce on the LO 6.3.
I've tried to Cut and Paste simple text row and columns.

It may be caused under some document context. Could you upload the failed document as an attachment?

Comment 5 BogdanB 2019-01-20 20:57:39 UTC
Could be something about Suse clipboard? Not LO?

Simple table

LO does not copy & paste rows with a few columns with only values under SuSE. I have far more complex sheets elsewhere with complex formulae that also fail to cut/copy & paste.

To be certain the reported issue is not
related to corruption in the user profile, could you please reset your
Libreoffice profile ( https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile ) and
re-test?
Comment 8 Alan 2019-02-08 09:49:05 UTC
I reset user profile and started LO in safe mode. Bug persists.
Comment 9 BogdanB 2019-02-08 12:13:41 UTC
Alan, please make a video with your steps. Would be eeasy to test and solved.

For LO developers: it's there a setting that could be activated to stop him in pasteing the informations? Something like blocked cells or something?
Comment 10 Alan 2019-02-08 12:37:32 UTC
Plain empty spreadsheet cannot copy/cut and paste rows/columns. Could be SuSE clipboard bug but why does LO delegate this to SuSE?
Comment 11 Timur 2019-02-08 13:02:31 UTC
I tested with VM openSUSE-Leap-15.0-GNOME-Live-x86_64. No repro.

Alan, it's up to you to test what happens. More likely it's some local issue on your system than that this basic feature is LO bug.
You didn't write which Suse version, which LO, how it was installed, did you try to reinstall or new version.

When you make such invalid report like "Cannot cut and paste whole rows and columns" you will draw attention but that's not correct.
Comment 12 Alan 2019-02-08 15:26:40 UTC
I am running Open SuSE Leap 15.0 which I got off the internet. It came with an old Libre Office 6.1. I have upgraded to 6.5.1.2 which cut/copy gives an information window saying "The contents of the clipboard could not be pasted." It sounds like a SuSE issue as LO is handing over the cut/copy/paste to SuSE.
Comment 13 Timur 2019-02-11 12:29:50 UTC
I'm not sure if that's Suse issue or upgrade issue. But looks like an in issue for Suse bug report.
I'll set this one to Needinfo. If after gathering some info proves as LO bug please set to Unconfirmed. If Suse bug please close as NotOurBug.
Comment 14 Alan 2019-02-11 13:07:30 UTC
I copied some data from an LO spreadsheet & pasted it successfully into a new spreadsheet. Then I copied a whole row, closed LO, reopened LO calc and got the same information error when I tried to paste the row.

This is definitely a SuSE bug. Please close this LO report & notify SuSE.

Thank you.
