Description Maxime Launois 2019-02-08 18:42:05 UTC
Description:
On Windows 10 64-bit, build 17134.523 (version 1803), when I shut down my computer without exiting from the LibreOffice process (which has been killed) and I force powering off my computer during the shutdown process, all user preferences have been reset to their defaults (for example all personal information has been emptied in the Settings), as if I installed for the first time LibreOffice.
I run LibreOffice 6.1.2.1.
When this happened many programs were running at the same time.

As per the page at https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile, the directory storing most of configuration files is in <username>\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice\4\user\registry. This directory has been deleted after the system restart.

Note 1: this bug doesn't prevent the application from remembering the most recently opened documents.
Note 2: this bug seems to affect ALL installed programs. (Maybe is that a Windows bug?)

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open many programs, anything you want
2. Shut down your Windows computer (Ctrl+X then Shut down or Stop)
3. During the shutdown process, FORCE powering off the computer (press and hold the power button for at least 5 seconds)
4. [If you are unlucky,] all user preferences of LibreOffice should have been reset to their defaults.

Actual Results:
LibreOffice user preferences have been removed.

Expected Results:
LibreOffice user preferences should totally survive after a forced system restart.

Reproducible: Sometimes

User Profile Reset: No

with LO 6.1.4 some bugs were fixed:

> Process Soffice.bin does not stop at x64 Windows shutdown/
> logoff when Quickstarter is used from LO 6.0
> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118573

I would recommend you to upgrade to latest stable LO 6.1.5 version.

Thank you for reporting the bug.
it seems you're using an old version of LibreOffice.
Could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ?
I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to
'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version.

LibreOffice Quickstart was not active when this bug occurred. However, that same bug caused it to appear again.

I could not reproduce this bug on LibreOffice 6.2.0.3 (latest version as of 15 February 2019). However I don't think that Windows shut down properly - I didn't asked it for that! Also this bug also *affected* all installed programs' preferences. Do you think is that a Windows bug instead of a LibreOffice one?

(Sorry if my English is bad)

Hello Maxime,
If you say it affects all installed programs, then it seems more like a OS problem rather than a LibreOffice problem.
I would suggest to close this issue as RESOLVED NOTOURBUG
