Latte pannel, Window AppMenu applet for global menus.

I was excited to update to newest LO 6.2 because it supposed to have rewritten and fixed global menus in Plasma or at least that is what I heard.

To my disappointment global menus are worse then they were before. Before they worked and just occasionally they were doubled or some instance was inactive but with re-focus, it was quickly gone, so previous bugs were not so noticeable.

Currently, global menus are doubled. Usually, the first instance is inactive, the second one works but sometimes it can be inactive too. Focusing to another window with global menus and going back to LO fixes the inactivity issue but doubled global menus stay all the time and there is no way of getting rid of them.

I checked with other Manjaro KDE users and they reported the same problem (but not all of them so there is some important variable here that I haven't identify yet). Moreover, the same bug seems to be present in vala-panel-appmenu in xfce so the bug may be more general.

See here:

https://forum.manjaro.org/t/testing-update-2019-02-10-kde-apps-gambas-qt5-virtualbox-libreoffice-wine-firefox/75151/59

Some already updated to KDE framework 5.55 and Plasma 5.15 and the double global menu issue is still present.

I'm posting screenshots of the bug.

It's being reported that the bug is already fixed in 6.2.0-3.

If so, I'll wait for the update and when that confirms, I'll close the topic.

Could you please try to reproduce it with version 6.2.0.3 of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ?
I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to
'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version.

I updated to libreoffice 6.2.0-3 (along with KDE framework 5.55 and Plasma 5.15) and the problem is gone now :), just like others said. Only one menu is shown and it works perfectly.

Or maybe it even works better than before! Before it was just entries without icons. Now I get all icons in global menus as if it was a normal in-app menu, so this means global menus in LO are fully integrated (or native to) with Plasma!
Awesome!

Closing.

Thanks for retesting with the latest version.
Setting to RESOLVED WORKSFORME as the commit fixing this issue hasn't been identified.

Double menus in LO 6.2.2-2
Comment 10 Konstantin 2019-03-27 20:27:37 UTC
Hello, I am rilian-la-te, a developer of vala-panel-appmenu, and I still see a bug under MATE and XFCE (with vala-panel-appmenu).

I see you send only GMenuModels, if we using gtk frontend (I do not know, which sort of Global Menus you send under KDE), so, we need to look to your MenuModel XML.

Distribution: ArchLinux
Package: extra/libreoffice-fresh 6.2.2-2

GTK frontend affected, in KDE frontend all is OK.
Comment 11 Konstantin 2019-03-27 20:53:29 UTC
Reports by VCL on 6.2.2:
General: not affected (does not export menus)
GTK3: affected (double menus)
GTK3_KDE5: affected (double menus)
GTK2: okay (menus exported and single, no double menus)
QT5: okay (menus exported and single, no double menus)
KDE5: okay (menus exported and single, no double menus)

It seems than only GTK3 frontend is affected.
Comment 12 Michael Weghorn 2019-03-27 22:27:21 UTC
@Konstantin: Thanks for your report.

While the visual result you get sounds very similar to the original bug report, the original one was for KDE, while you state that the gtk3 variants are affected and kde is fine.

In order to keep the scope of this bug report and thus avoid confusion, I'm closing it again.

Please open a new bug report for your issue, to make it easier to keep track of the single issues.

Please could someone point me to the bug tracking the still affected GTK3 and GTK3_KDE5 global menu. Thank you

-> bug 124391

And there's also bug 124192 for Unity.

Thank you for the updated.

The screenshot shows that you're using the "gtk2" VCL plugin, while this bug report is for the qt5/kde5 VCL plugin, so this seems to be another issue.

If you think this is not the same as the existing bug reports bug 124391 and bug 124192, please create a new bug report.
