Description Martin Terry 2019-02-27 10:52:08 UTC
After upgrading to LO 6.1.5.2 I found that my icons had changed to the Automatic (Colibre) type, which I do not like. I had to go into Tools/Options/LO/View and reset my option to Tango. Only a minor issue but a little irritating. I looked in release Notes and found that 3 types of icon themes had been removed in this release. Not sure if reset to automatic was deliberate or accidental. I tried all the available Icon Themes and I think Tango is much the best. I hope you do not have any plans to remove it! I would be very disappointed if you did that. Apart from that, thank you for the new release. I love LO and use CALC a lot.

The icon set change should only happen when it was "automatic" already, and the default for your OS was changed in a new release (see [1]). It is possible that you have never edited your preferred icon set, so the used icon set was "Whatever LibreOffice think fit for this OS", which happened to be an icon set you liked in previous versions. However, a change of default is a normal thing, like when some theme is generally deemed to fit some OS HIG better; so if a user has such "automatic" icon set, it's expected that the user's UI would change with the changed default.

However, it's unclear from your report if you had such a case; your wording "Not sure if reset to automatic was deliberate or accidental" gives an impression that you suppose that what you had before was not "automatic" - so please confirm if you had a specific icon set chosen manually previously to the upgrade, and which one was that.

Setting to NEEDINFO; please reset back to UNCONFIRMED after providing the answers. Thanks!

Hi Mike,

Thank you for your reply

I am afraid that I don't know whether the theme was set to Automatic or Tango before I upgraded. I might have set this to Tango at some time in the past because I had the Tango style before I upgraded, but unfortunately, I cannot be certain about this.

Looking at question 168720 you referenced, I think the Automatic default might have been Tango in which case that would explain the change I noticed. My only comment about this is that if the default was chganged by the developer it would have been helpful to mention this in the release notes.

Regards
Martin

:-) It's there: see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/6.1#Icon_Theme:

> Colibre introduced *as default* under Windows tdf#90194 (Andreas Kainz, Heiko Tietze)

(emphasis of *as default* is mine).

Ok then, close as NOTABUG.

You are right. I missed it! All I spotted was the bit about Icon Themes in the Feature Removal section. I need to look more carefully in future.
