Description Irakli Lomidze 2019-03-15 07:51:36 UTC
Description:
I have a ODT file Generated by Microsoft Word 365, It looks fine when I open it in MS Word again. But layout is broken when I open it in LibreOffice 6.2.1.

Layout is more ok, when I open same DOCX file from LO 6.2.1. instead of ODT (but some parts is missing)

Steps to Reproduce:
1. You need My File Test.ODT and Test.DOCX
2. Open it in Word it Both works Fine
3. Open ODT in LO

Actual Results:
Layout broken

Expected Results:
Retain Layout

Reproducible: Always

The .docx file can't be even opened in MSO 2010 claiming it's corrupted.
Why LibreOffice should care about the compatibility of a document if it is not even compatible among different versions of MSO?
Regarding the .ODT file, it's not even conformant with ODF1.2. Checked with https://odfvalidator.org/, so it's a MSO problem.
Closing as RESOLVED NOTOURBUG

Microsoft Office 2010 Is out dated version

use Office 2016/2019 or Office 365.

I Don't know about validation of odf 1.2

See result Office documents Created in Microsoft Office newer version

Irakli: the point is we cannot fix the problems Microsoft is having with their ODT export.
Comment 8 Irakli Lomidze 2019-03-22 13:49:01 UTC
OK I Got it.

Sorry for reopen it again.

Colleagues I have noted layout error, when I save Test.DOCX file from Word to RTF Format.

Again Layout is breaking when importing file in LO 6.2.2
But Layout is Ok when I open DOCX file in same LO 6.2.2

Ok, but please open a new report for this. It would be confusing to change this report at this point.

Table with wrong position

For me it is an layout error in LibreOffice. The table in my example has a relative width of 90%, resulting in a width of about 15cm. There is less than 15cm left on the right side of the text box. Therefore the table should go below the text box.

Instead LibreOffice renders the table partly outside the page.

The validation errors in the file from Word are not related to the problem.

You can avoid such problems, when using wrap none (Word 'Top and Bottom') for the text box.

Irakli: why did you change this to fixed?
Comment 13 Irakli Lomidze 2020-01-31 18:16:36 UTC
I have noted that In 6.4 version it is fixed
at least for my document
Comment 14 Buovjaga 2020-01-31 22:07:29 UTC
Ok, great. Changing status to WFM as we don't know the fixing commit
