Changing the language like you do in the video, from the status bar, changes it in the character formatting level. If you change it from Tools - Language - For all text, it works even after style change. So I am not sure if this is a bug.

I agree, this is a misunderstanding on the part of the user and would recommend this be set to Works For Me rather than New.

Hello,

Thanks for your replies. I admit that I may have been wrong.

However, hover over this area with the cursor to see the tooltip. I can read this : <<Langue du texte. Faites un clic avec le bouton droit pour définir la langue des caractères ou du paragraphe.>> (Language of the text. Right-click to set the language of the characters or paragraph).

It is not written that this is related to formatting. I then consider that my confusion is legitimate.

Best regards.

An example how you can work with styles regarding language:

1. Open Sidebar, Styles
2. Right-click the Default style, Modify
3. Click the Font tab
4. In the first section (Western), click the language dropdown and pick what you want

Apply how you want per style (or create new styles and apply to them)

Other case

Hi !

If is formatting, I do not understand why I have a difference between the status bar and the attached * .png file. The "formatting" window does not seem to format the language correctly ...

I also think that the status bar is a shortcut. But a shortcut of what? "Tools => Language ..." changes the status bar, which is not the case with "paragraph style" ...

Finally, I would say this:
1) "Tools => Language ..." works correctly. It changes the language as expected and the result is displayed in the status bar.
2) "Right click => Paragraph style" does not display the change in the status bar.
3) "Click in the status bar" changes the display of the status bar but does not seem to change the language actually. Neither from the point of view of "Tools => Language" nor from the point of view of "Paragraph Style".

This seems to me to be a real mess. So what does the status bar reflect?

Cordially.

Ok. Thank for you last reply.

To apply the "Paragraph style", I had to reapply the style again.

Thanks a lot ! :)
