Description Claudi 2019-04-20 19:36:58 UTC
Description:
I want to set some clickable cross references in the page headers of my document, so in everypage I have these links available to click. In the context of a Libreoffice document, this feature works without any problem. However, if I export the document to PDF, the links are lost (they are only clickable in the page where I defined them). I tried two approaches: using insert/set cross references and using bookmarks/internal links. None of this options work.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a document with multiple pages and set some references.
2. Go to the first page and edit the header: insert some cross references to the references set in step 1. The header should repeat in every page.
3. Export to PDF
4. Links to references are not clickable in all pages.

Actual Results:
The exported PDF does not keep the links to the references.

Expected Results:
The exported PDF should preserve the links to the references in all pages headers.

Reproducible: Always

I'm attaching all the requested info. My purpose is to create an interactive PDF document with links placed along the right side of the page, as if they were placed in a tab bar.
Comment 4 Oliver Brinzing 2019-04-21 12:10:46 UTC
confirming, the shape with the link is anchored to header. only the link on first page will work after pdf export. same if a frame is used instead of a shape.

Claudi, Oliver, what PDF viewer do you use?

Roman, the export parameters are in the ZIP attached to this issue. I've tried using Adobe Reader and Google Chrome embeded PDF viewer. BTW, I have noticed that it even doesn't work in LibreOffice Writer either. If I hover the link in the first page (while pressing the control key), a hand cursor appears as expected. But if I do the same in the other pages, the hand does not appear so it means that Writer is not replicating the links in other pages.

I don't see "hand-cursor" for all shapes in your document. So possibly problem is in cross-reference inside shape in general

Let me some time for experiments

Claudi, please write step-by-spep HOW you insert cross-reference into shape
Comment 10 Claudi 2019-04-21 15:17:35 UTC
In the attached document I used a bookmark and a local hyperlink to the bookmark, not a cross-reference.

The steps are:

1) I insert the bookmark to a random page (in this case, the first one)

2) I open the page header and insert a Text box anchored to the header's paragraph. The reason I use a Text box is because I can rotate it to have a vertical text on the right side of the page, emulating a tab.

3) I click inside the Text box and then I go to the "Insert" menu -> Hyperlink

4) I choose the above mentioned bookmark and set a custom text (in my case "ClickMe").

If there's any other (working) way to emulate tabs, I'd appreciate some hints.

Ah, hyperlink.
Claudi, cross-reference is Insert->Cross-referense (just FYI to future)

I have attached "sample2.zip" which shows that using frames with inner text rotated and using cross-references don't work either.

Dear Claudi,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa
