Created attachment 151282 [details] No footnotes possible in figure captions I would like to generate footnotes in figure captions, to minimize the amount of text in figure captions, but it is not possible to generate footnotes within figure captions because in the Insert menu => "Footnote/Endnote" => the subentry "Footnote" is deactivated. Due to this, the figure caption looks poor because it contains too much text. And in an Table of Figures, the complete figure caption gets shown. This looks poor, too. Figure captions should not show URL's and other obsolete information in Table of Figures. For details and demonstration see the attached .odt file.
Footnotes in figure captions look like a duplicate of Bug 48534. As for Table of Figures: you may choose to display References (Figure 1: Fruits. http://www.wikipedia.org (last retrieved on 10-05-2019). Author: None), Category and Number (Figure1), Caption Text (Fruits. http://www.wikipedia.org (last retrieved on 10-05-2019). Author: None). But you may not separate text you entered now. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 48534 ***

Note that my bug report contains two bug issues which are connected to each other. According to me, the issue "Obsolete text of figure caption is shown in Table of Figures" is not covered by bug 48534. > As for Table of Figures: > you may choose to display References I applied the steps from here: https://help.libreoffice.org/Writer/Inserting_Cross-References, but the results are not what I would like to see in my document. Thanks, anyway.
