Description Adalbert Hanßen 2019-05-13 08:25:23 UTC
This bug happened in
Version: 6.1.4.2
Build-ID: 9d0f32d1f0b509096fd65e0d4bec26ddd1938fd3
CPU-Threads: 4; BS: Linux 4.4; UI-Render: Standard; VCL: gtk2;
Gebietsschema: de-DE (de_DE.UTF-8); Calc: group threaded

I wanted to prepare a form for a letter. The header and footer shall only appear on the first page of it. I read, in order to do this, one has to select footer on and deselect same content on first page. I also deselected same content on right and left pages. (I don't know if the recommendation is right that one has to first have to do these selections in Format>Page tab Footer before inserting anything into the footer).

The I copied the footer (which was a tabel of size 3*3) from my first draft. My first draft did not have these special settings to the footer of the new document.

LO Writer crashed. An automatic Bug report was sent. Unfortunately I do not know, where LO stores its crash reports.

A description of the bug plus another one in that area when I unsucessfully tried to reproduce the one which I reported

To my great surprise, the bug did not happen again, when I tried to reproduce it with this sample file and its sample table, which looks similar to the one which I used in the case of my letter-template.

(A reboot has happened in between).

Before reporting the bug, it happened tree times, but I did not keep the file into which I wanted to paste the table with the footer.

I also tried to reproduce the bug in a new document with the described page format options. Pasting the table to the footer also worked there.

So I could not reproduce it now.

The recommendation, first to deselect the options _same content on first page_ and _same content on right and left pages_ in order to limit the footer to the first page only, is valid. It they are not deselected, the pasted footer appears on all pages. Try it with my sample: first paste the table in it with the two options set and the go to _Format>Page_ tab _Footer_ to deselect them. This does not remove the repeated footer on the second and all subsequent pages. I would expect that setting or resetting one of these options they take effect immediately – without that cumbersome detour before filling the footer.

Hello Adalbert Hanßen,
Thanks for providing further information.
I would suggest to close this as RESOLVED WORKSFORME since the crash is no longer reproducible. Feel free to put it back to UNCONFIRMED if you can reproduce it again.
Cheers

ok. I'll reopen it if it happens again and if I can supply an example which makes it easy to reproduce it.

But shall I post a new bug for the other glitch which I found:

If the options _same content on first page_ and _same content on right and left pages_ are deselected after a footnote really has content, they appear on all pages despite of that.

Yes, report it in a new ticket
