Description: the current grid size in draw or everywhere else is 1x1 mm which is to small in addition that LibreOffice didn't have an dynamic grid size scaling AND LibO main task is not to design icons where everything can be importend to have it grid align. As the default size in Draw, writer, ... is A4 (or similar) an 25 mm space is visible with the eyes when one rectangular is 25 mm away from another rectangular. Actual Results: 1x1mm grid Expected Results: 25x25mm grid Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: https://extensions.libreoffice.org/extensions/libresymbols and symbols are ordinary very tiny but the drawer use also an 25x25mm grid and as 25mm is 1 zoll it fit's also to other measure convention.
draw 1cm grid with 10 subdivisions writer 1cm grid with 2 subdivisions suggestion everywhere 1 cm grid with 4 subdivisions
> Expected Results: > 25x25mm grid I mean 2.5 mm grid so 10 mm grid with 4 subdivisions.
I have no strong opinion about it. I use 0.5cm with 5 spaces as default in Draw. If I need a grid in Impress, then I set it according my current task, the default 2cm is always too wide. I do not use a grid in Writer, but set positions via dialog.
Since the grid has a snap feature we shouldn't go with too high values. So I vote for Regina's proposal of 0.5cm resp. 0.2". For the subdevisions an even number allows to place objects exactly in the middle of the grid, so 4 seems reasonable here. In general it's a lot of work since UI tests are likely affected. Maybe it's better to just keep the current values since the grid heavily depend on the actual task.
than please make the UI tests. how should I draw predefined gallery shapes without the knowledge of the default grid.

I prefer not to change the current defaults, but to work on bug 78035 (and duplicate 78034) and bug 98820. The idea in these reports is, to have a grid setting per document, with access in page properties and side bar. This idea would include, that the user can define the grid in a document template. And a setting per document would make the grid stick to the set values and not be changed by global settings. The global settings would only be uses for new documents, which are not based on a document template. Predefined gallery shapes should be in vector format and will adapt to any grid. And raster images will likely fail either centimeter or inch based grid.

And raster images will likely fail > either centimeter or inch based grid. you can make an graphic to an x times 0.5 cm size or whatever but the size has to fit with text and everything with an grid cause otherwise you draw shapes and you can't snap them. See link in c0.
Created attachment 155045 [details] Default Grid setting I work on shapes for the gallery sidebar. All shapes follow an 1 x 1 cm Grid Resolution with 4 Subdivisions. This is part of the gallery guideline so that it's possible to mix the different Themes from the gallery. As writer already has an 0,5 cm grid, the gallery items will work not only in Draw/Impress.
