Description Christian Lehmann 2019-06-05 09:43:27 UTC
Description:
Kubuntu 18.04, KDE Plasma version 5.12.7.
All LO components.
Underline of those letters of menu items which represent shortcut keys does not show.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open any LO component.
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Neither the main menu titles nor the items in each menu show the shortcut key by underline of the letter in question.

Expected Results:
For those menu functions which are actually executable by keystroke, the key in question should be shown by underline.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
This bug is new in version 6.2.4.2. It makes no difference whether OpenGL is enabled or not.

Hello Christian,
Thanks for reporting this issue.
Does it work if you launch LibreOffice from commandline like 'SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk3 soffice' ?

I had to install libreoffice-common before being able to launch this command.
Launching it then produced the window shown in the screenshot.

Moreover, after this experiment, when I now launch LO from its icon in the task panel, the form that appears once LO is running is now different: It is no longer the familiar blue page, but a black page on black background. I would much prefer to get that fixed.
Comment 4 Christian Lehmann 2019-06-05 11:06:49 UTC
Addendum: The icon problem was apparently a consequence of an kde-init breakdown caused by the experiment (something otherwise frequent in this installation). With kde-init restarted, it is now fixed.

Addendum to description:
I now see that the underline does appear if one holds the ALT key pressed. This may or may not be an intentional new feature. In any case, I suggest reverting to the earlier situation where the underline appears always. Reason: While the menu headline items do require pressing the ALT key, once you are in such a menu, selection of any of the items provided with a key does _not_ require the ALT key. Thus, underlining the shortcut keys _always_ speeds up the user's work.

Ok.
Setting to RESOLVED NOTABUG then.

I think it depends on the theme used. Does it happen with other software but not with LibreOffice or the behaviour is consistent among all programs? Please, report it in a new issue if that is the case

Thanks for the hint. It is actually the same in other applications. But it does not depend on the Kubuntu theme chosen; it is the same with all of them. Seems to be a general Kubuntu setting then.
