From file..." to select some file, close dialog with "OK", enter some bulleted paragraphs, save file as odt. Instead of the odt's content.xml containing a <text:list-level-style-image text:level="1" xlink:href="..." ...> referencing the external file, the odt contains a copy of the graphic file in its Pictures/ sub-folder, and the content.xml contains <text:list-level-style-image text:level="1" xlink:href="Pictures/..." ...> referencing that copy.
