Created attachment 153237 [details] strace output of launch of soffice from /opt/libreoffice6.3/program Installed under Mageia 7. Launching soffice or swriter gives splash screen for a second or so then nothing. strace output attached.
I can confirm this happens. In fact, I reported this here with my strace [https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=126440]. No doubt the same issue. Note that the LibreOffice version 6.1.x.x install and work properly. So it is something inherent in the 6.2 and 6.3 series that has changed that make it unworkable on Mageia7. Marc
Sorry to disagree with Marc Pare, but I have no problem with 6.2: Build ID: 6.2.3.2-3.mga7 Everything working as expected.
6.3.1 doesn't work either - short splash of LibreOffice then nothing.
(In reply to Graeme Gemmill from comment #2) > Sorry to disagree with Marc Pare, but I have no problem with 6.2: > Build ID: 6.2.3.2-3.mga7 > Everything working as expected. Hi Graeme, Is the version of LibreOffice you say works come from the LibreOffice downloads page, and, where you installed yourself? Or, are you saying the Mageia repository LibreOffice 6.2 works? -- which it does. The issue is that, if we want to test any versions of LibreOffice from the LibreOffice site, they do not work. Linux distro versions of LibreOffice usually work well if the Linux distro packagers have done a good job of it. If we can't install the LibreOffice downloads or dev versions of LibreOffice, then the Mageia distro people won't be able to help with any QA or code work etc. I wonder if any other people using either a .deb or .rpm linux distro have tested to see if the LibreOffice download versions work? Marc
I notice that this discussion is related to bug 126440. I left a note on that bug as to a possible answer to the reason for the failure. Perhaps these 2 could be combined? Marc
Hi Graeme Gemmill, Does it work if you launch LibreOffice from commandline with SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk3 soffice ?
