Description John Sakoutis 2019-09-08 00:46:39 UTC
Libre Office 6.3.0.4
Arch Linux XFCE 4.14
Intel 64bit architecture.
Nvidia GPU.

Steps to reproduce bug
1. Copy any text from any source
2. Ctrl + Shift + V to special paste in a writer document or the type area in calc used to type values in cell. Any area that has a cursor where typing.
3. Ctrl + F to search the list
4. Type any phrase that doesn't exist
5. Press enter (no options selected)
6. Press enter
Crash.

The crash is where no value is selected on a list where values must be selected.

Haven't tried on other applications apart from writer and calc.
Thanks.

Not sure if I understand correctly tour steps to reproduce. What do you choose in the dialog shown by step 2?

Set status to NEEDINFO. Please set it back to UNCONFIRMED once the requested information are provided.

Best regards. JBF

Video of crash

Hello,
I have attached a video of the crash occurring.
I found that it only works sometimes when there is not much text.
Here is a dropbox link to the video if the attachment does not work:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/o680juwlyipb9jd/Crash.mp4?dl=0
I found that Libre office can either do the following when the paste is applied:
1. Paste without formatting
2. Do nothing
3. (Most times) Crash.

To bring up the small box at 0:12, I pressed Ctrl + F
After typing some characters in the box, i pressed enter twice.
Hopefully this is enough information.
Thanks.

This is my LibreOffice info.

Do you think it has been fixed in the 6.4 alpha?
When you attempted to reproduce it, was there much text that you copied into the document? I found that it crashes unreliably when there are only a few characters copied.

I can't reproduce step 3. Nothing happens, if I press Strg+F. There is no field where you can make an entry.

Comment 8 John Sakoutis 2019-09-11 23:06:11 UTC
I think the box that appears when I press Ctrl + F is an XFCE 4 or Arch Linux popup. The bug seems to be if the user is somehow able to select an object that does not appear on the list, in my case, the find function (possibly built into xfce 4) is able to select no item and when I proceed with the paste, it doesn’t know how to paste.

This text field appears if you type a character instead of clicking on an entry or scrolling the entry list with the up/down arrow keys. If I type H the entry "Hypertext Markup Language (HTML)" is selected. If I type ssss nothing is selected but LibreOffice does not crash when I hit the Entry key.

No, nothing happens. If I press H, DD, U, R or L one of the options is highlighted (German UI). With other characters nothing happens. I don't understand the meaning of the box. Perhaps it is Linux specific?

John, do you recieve a crash report? Cpuld you please give us the link to that report?
Comment 11 Xisco Faulí 2019-09-24 11:30:22 UTC
Hello John Sakoutis,
Could you please try to reproduce it with a master build from http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/ ?
You can install it alongside the standard version.
I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the master build

RESOLVED WORKFORME is better: "The problem used to be reproducible, but it is not anymore with the latest version of LibreOffice. Unlike FIXED, exact fix commit is not known."
