Description: When opening file from inside LO (as opposed to opening from the OS file manager), either from the start center, or from File -> Open... menu, or the open file toolbar button, has a dialog with a dropdown menu labeled "Version:", and the current version is the default. However, changing the default to anything else doesn't seem to work, the opened file will always display the current version. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Use one of the ways to open the attached ODT file, which has three different versions, from inside LO; 2. Choose "version 1" from the dropdown menu labeled with "Versions:"; Actual Results: The file opens as version 3, the current version. Expected Results: The file opens as version 1, as requested. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: I only tested this in Writer, and that's the component I'm reporting against. However it may exists for other modules as well. My "About LO" info: Version: 6.3.1.2 (x64) Build ID: b79626edf0065ac373bd1df5c28bd630b4424273 CPU threads: 2; OS: Windows 10.0; UI render: default; VCL: win; Locale: zh-CN (zh_CN); UI-Language: en-US Calc: threaded

I can't confirm it. I could open version 1 as well as version 2 Version: 6.4.0.0.alpha0+ (x64) Build ID: 01837a85004a6f891a09c0a63ed7eff75d634827 CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0; UI render: GL; VCL: win; TinderBox: Win-x86_64@62-TDF, Branch:master, Time: 2019-09-01_00:07:05 Locale: en-GB (de_DE); UI-Language: en-US Calc: threaded

Ah yes, I indeed meant the Windows file chooser dialog when I said choose versions, not the LO native File -> Versions... dialog. My word choice of "from inside LO" was trying to emphasize that one needs to use LO to open the file so that the file chooser dialog appears, instead of double-clicking directly from the Windows file manager. In retrospect it was not a good choice, and probably caused more confusions than it was trying to clarify.
I do I show the version dialog? When I open the file in Versión: 6.3.1.2 (x86) Id. de compilación: b79626edf0065ac373bd1df5c28bd630b4424273 Subprocs. CPU: 1; SO: Windows 6.1; Repres. IU: predet.; VCL: win; Configuración regional: es-ES (es_ES); Idioma de IU: es-ES Calc: threaded I don't see any version dialog while loading...
Ok, the version can be chosen in the import dialog...
Also reproduced in Version: 5.4.0.0.alpha1+ Build ID: 9feb7f7039a3b59974cbf266922177e961a52dd1 CPU threads: 16; OS: Windows 6.29; UI render: default; Locale: en-GB (en_GB); Calc: group

FWIW, when using LO's native file chooser instead of the OS one (check the Tools > Options > LibreOffice > General > "Use LibreOffice dialogs" checkbox to enable), specifying intended version works. This checkbox seems only available in 6.3 and higher though.
Dear Ming Hua, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone! The error still exists in Version: 25.8.0.0.alpha1+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 3158b14e0b26875300a8098bc117a5e69b76f48f CPU threads: 32; OS: Windows 11 X86_64 (build 26100); UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: en-US Calc: threaded I see the error too in AOO 4.1 and in portable OOo3.2. So likely inherited from OpenOffice.
