I have tried the provided functionality out again together with the software combination “LibreOffice Calc 6.3.3.1-861.1”. I can choose an example file like “https://help.libreoffice.org/6.3/media/files/scalc/en-GB/pivot.ods” from a local directory after pressing the search button in the dialogue “External data”. https://help.libreoffice.org/6.3/en-GB/text/scalc/01/04090000.html Unfortunately, I get informed by a message dialogue (without a title) that the object could not be accessed because of missing user rights. But I find my permissions fine because this test file (and others) can be successfully opened directly (instead of trying to configure an external file link).
Hello Markus, thanks for reporting this issue. A new major release of LibreOffice is available since this bug was reported. Could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ? I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version.
(In reply to Xisco Faulí from comment #1) I have tried the provided functionality out again together with the software combination “LibreOffice Calc 6.4.3.2-904.3”. * Missing user rights are not reported at the moment. I would appreciate if the error message would have been more precise about the detail for which files the permissions were questionable for a moment. * Now I can load external data for another test. I become curious then for a graphical display how many data were linked from external information sources. May I adjust the update intervals anyhow?

(In reply to Xisco Faulí from comment #3) * I would appreciate a more constructive response according to my feedback from 2020-05-11. * I find the behaviour in the dialogue “External data” partly questionable according to the software combination “LibreOffice Calc 7.1.0.3-977.3”. https://help.libreoffice.org/7.1/en-GB/text/scalc/01/04090000.html + I can eventually choose an acceptable file path from the drop-down list. But the button “OK” would be still greyed out then. It seems to get activated only after a successful file selection after pressing the button “Browse”. + The previously shown drop-down list can become empty.

Hello, tested with Version: 25.8.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 9dd225ee8c45d6c944b9ce5578780d89612e9ffb CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 6.8; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: cs-CZ (cs_CZ.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded My steps: - Open new file - sheet - External links - Browse - locate to your file pivot.ods - Dialog says "No named ranges available in the selected document" So I've created new file with named range and tested the same steps. When I select the file, I can click button OK. I see no issue. Markus, please can you check it?
