I'm still using Windows XP and I am running LibreOffice 5.1.2.2. I tried to update to the last version available for XP (5.4.7.2) so I downloaded it here: https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/5.4.7.2/win/x86/LibreOffice_5.4.7.2_Win_x86.msi After having choosed typical/personalized (no matter which one), the installer crashes. Crash message: --------------------------- LibreOffice 5.4.7.2 - msiexec.exe - Application error --------------------------- The instruction at "0x67226930" addressed the memory at "0x67226930". The memory can not be "written". I tried installing 5.4.7.2 on a clean XP machine and it worked fine. I understand that this version is old and development is closed, but it seems a joke not being able to to reach the last available version.
While my computer keeps crashing, I tried installing 5.1.2.2 on a clean machine then upgrading to 5.4.7.2 and it went ok. I don't understand. I'll try by uninstalling 5.1.2.2 then installing 5.4.7.2.
Did you try to uninstall 5.1.2.2 first? Here are 2 links which may help: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129087#c2 https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129087#c4
I tried a restore, but the program (version 5.1.2.2) asks for the file LibreOffice_5.1.2_Win_x86.msi instead of LibreOffice_5.1.2.2_Win_x86.msi. I uninstalled 5.1.2.2 and tried to install 5.4.7.2: crash. I tried to install LibreOffice_5.4.4.1_Win_x86.msi and I got "Windows Vista or newer is needed". (!) Trying to reinstall 5.1.2.2 I get the very same crash. It looks a lot like a problem of msiexec.exe.
Yes, indeed. Reinstalled WindowsXP-KB942288-v3-x86.exe (i.e. Microsoft installer) and all went fine. Sorry.
