Description d-x-0-5 2020-01-12 13:15:29 UTC
Description:
Libre office hangs in the opening window. The Libre Office window is empty, only window frame visible and the blue circle wait cursor is showing up forever. Its fresh Windows 10 64-Bit install (all updates applied) on an older PC with Intel i5 and NVIDIA Geforce GTX 570. Mainboard is an ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 with Intel i5-2500K and 8 GB Ram (all drivers from ASRock homepage installed). Starting Libre Office in save mode works fine. Disabling Open-CL did not solve the problem. Also there is no user profile reset necessary because it is a fresh installed Windows 10 with no other problems at all. Firefox and TeamViewer installed and working fine, nothing else. How can a further diagnostics for the reason of the hanging be obtained? I also tried the 6.0.4.2 RC1, same problem.
Startin an app directly (writer, calc, etc) the hanging occures in the small startup window.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Libre Office or any of the programs like writer, calc, etc

Actual Results:
Hanging with LibreOffice start window empty, wait cursor forever

Expected Results:
LibreOffice start window showing up with content

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

You can give a try at https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FirstSteps
Also you may upgrade to 6.3.4.
Comment 2 Julien Nabet 2020-01-12 16:54:58 UTC
Version must correspond to the oldest one not the newest one.
Comment 3 d-x-0-5 2020-01-12 16:56:51 UTC
Sorry, was a wrong selection. My first trial was 6.3.4 Release. I have updated the ticket. Nevertheless, problem also occures on 6.4.0.2 RC1...
Comment 4 d-x-0-5 2020-01-12 16:58:01 UTC
Version 6.3.4 was the 1st I tried on that computer. I do not know the behaviour of older versions because I never had them installed.

Did you install any specific fonts? If yes, could you disable them and give a try?

Do you have Java installed? If yes, it must match LO, I mean, if you installed LO 32 bits, you must have Java 32, if you installed LO 64 bits, you must have Java 64.
Comment 6 d-x-0-5 2020-01-12 21:42:03 UTC
No extra fonts installed. I have installed Java 8 Update 231, 64 Bit Edition because I read that some functions would need Java.

Did you install LO 64 bits?
Did you download from official website? (https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/)
Is it an install on local hard disk/ssd not on a network?
Is it your personal computer or company computer? (which could have some GPOs or other restrictions).
Do you have an antivirus enabled? If yes which one and, for the test, could you disable it temporarily?

==> local 1 RB harddisk (not SSD)

==> personal computer, no special GPOs

==> just windows integrated protection ("Echtzeitschutz"), just tried with disabled, no success
==> using a local admin account (not a microsoft account)

Thank you for your feedback.
Since I don't have more questions, I'll put it back to UNCONFIRMED.
I must recognize I don't have more ideas for the moment.

Just tried with a fresh created new local admin account, default settings. Same problem. LibreOffice hanging at startup (just in opening the main window). No more idea either...

I have a new info for you:
I have activated the Microsoft virtual sandbox on the machine and tried LibreOffice in the Sandbox. And voilà, no problems, LO runs as expected. So there must be any setting in my (none virtualized) windows 10 that prevents the LibreOffice main window to proceed in any way. I have only some privacy customizations and some visual preference setttings personalized on my PC. I really do not know, how to find out the cause of the problem. How do we proceed from here?

Given up on Libre Office. Tried with Open Office, no problems at all, bye.

Starting Libre Office in save mode works fine -> Sounds like an OpenGL issue
