Description david 2020-01-23 17:15:37 UTC
Description:
If copying and pasting solely within LibreOffice, using right click, the first copy command doesn't work. It has to be repeated before the text is copied to the clipboard. The problem is only in LibreOffice. I can copy and paste in other applications. In fact, if the clipboard already contains text copied from another application, copy works first time in LibreOffice. I did not have this problem before upgrading to 6.3.4.2.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Select some text in Writer. Copy to the clipboard using right click and 'Copy'.
2.Move to another part of the document and Paste. (If the correct text is pasted then repeat step 1.) Now what is pasted is either nothing or the *previous* contents of the clipboard.
3.Repeat step 1
4.Paste the text, which is now correct.

Actual Results:
As set out in steps 2 and 4 above

Expected Results:
Right click and 'Copy' should copy to the clipboard first time, every time.

Reproducible: Always

I can't confirm it with

Version: 6.3.4.2 (x64)
Build-ID: 60da17e045e08f1793c57c00ba83cdfce946d0aa
CPU-Threads: 4; BS: Windows 10.0; UI-Render: Standard; VCL: win;
Gebietsschema: de-DE (de_DE); UI-Sprache: de-DE
Calc: threaded

What happens, if you use ctrl-C and ctrl+V instead?
Comment 2 david 2020-01-23 18:59:47 UTC
Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V seem to work normally

Did you search before posting?
Looks like a duplicate of bug https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62196.

Thanks. I did do a search and I found that bug but it seemed to be the opposite: problems pasting from another application into LibreOffice. Also, it seemed to occur randomly (from 2013!) and was thought to be a Windows bug. What I am describing only occurs within LibreOffice, is on Linux, and has only just started following the upgrade. (I have been using LibreOffice Writer on Linux intensively for many years without a problem like this.) For me, it is consistently reproducible following the steps above.

There seems to be something wrong with the way LibreOffice handles the clipboard but I will leave it to those more expert than me to say how best to report it.

There are many duplicates there, bug was broaden, so it may well be the same.
But so far, let's keep Linux separated, you may mark a duplicate of bug 128714 .
