I have and ERP (Expertis 5 R2) that sends Excel files to Excel as ActiveX component. If I have Microsoft Office installed, it opens normally thougth Excel, but if I have LibreOffice, it errors saying it can't create ActiveX component..

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open a program that sends Excel ActiveX
2.Use option to send to Excel
3.Libreoffice doesn't open...

Actual Results:
"ActiveX component can't be created"

Expected Results:
LibreOffice opens with the "Calc" sent

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
The program that generates it is "Expertis 5 R2", I don't have source code of it, but its created by Visual Studio .Net C++/C# and uses Telerik as UI

I don't have source code (Private program..), but I saw that at some point does instance = RuntimeHelpers.GetObjectValue(Interaction.CreateObject("Excel.Application"));, that seems to create a COM Object

I saw there was a project named "AutomateIt!" that binds that to LibreOffice, that installed makes open Libreoffice instead of error, but doesn't work in all scenarios

I think the "solution" is to implement in LibreOffice some like AutomateIT for be able to replace in not open source apps..

¿Anyone has info about that?

Hi Kevin

Could you please test this again with a recent version of LibreOffice, to see if you get the same error? Ideally, you would test it with a recent master build available on this page: https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/current.html

You can safely install them alongside your current (stable) LibreOffice.

Setting this bug to NEEDINFO, but you can change the status back to UNCONFIRMED when you report back.
