Description jaakko.a.koistinen 2020-04-08 07:35:26 UTC
Description:
I have calc spread with 9 tabs. In each of them I have
a data matrix 180 rows and 6 colums. In column one
there are x values and in others y values.
My aim was to draw on each page 3-6 Charts X-Y (Scatter) by
using the data colums. In each Chart there are 2 x-y curves(x is common
and ys from different colums) one solid and one dashed + title. Everything looked to go fine but when I saved the file and reopened it it had lost Charts from several pages. I have studied and found that if the size of
the file is more than 300k then this failing starts to happen. I managed
to make this with exel and the size of the file was 500k with all graphs.
My exel is 2013 and fails if I use colours.
I simplified the case and draw just on 2 tabs those Chats which
had disappeared and managed to save that. I opened the original
copied from the simple(2 tabs) those missing pages and pasted
to the original. It failed every time to save tha data correctly
or those pages had lost their graphs.
In some cases the graph came partly out but instead a curves there were
streight lines.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Please see the description above.
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Please see the description above.

Expected Results:
There should be graphs on all pages as there were before saving.

Reproducible: Always

Please what file format do you use to save?

Can you attach a sample file, that with a minimal modification, following your instrucctions, allow to see the issue.

The reporter chose to reply in bug 132032 instead of here, so I'm copying his comment over. See the other bug's attachment 159475 [details] for the mentioned files.

Hi,

In the attached Libre Office bug. zip there are 2 files:

Libre office test final 3.xlsx (297kB) and
Libre office test final 4.xlsx (219kB)

I made this example by using my original data. The titles I have changed.
In the xlsx files there are 9 sheets. I first completed Sheets 1..6 and
saved the results now and then as Excel 2007-365 files - closed LibreOffice
 - started it again and checked whether everyting is still ok .
File 3 is the one until which everything was still ok. As you can see its
size is near 300kB. Then I completed Sheet 7 as you see from file 4.
After closing and reopening most of the charts on
sheets 1...5 was lost. My aim was to put similar charts to
Sheets 8 and 9 as in Sheet 7 and I really did it 2 times before I
was sure that there is something wrong
in LibreOffice.

Hopefully you can correct this error (asap).

I have 2 additional hopes for LibreOffice Calc:

- could it be possible that program remembers the chosen Font
instead that I always need to change
Liberation Sans to Arial and bold and size 12 for example?
If I select border to some main title could
the program give the same to other charts automatically?

- could you increase the sizes of rows and colums in Sheets so
that you can open bigger exel files

Easiest way to verify this is to copy from 4 contents from Sheet 7 and
paste that to 3 / Sheet 7 >> save as not as 3 but some other cname and
close Libre reopen saved and see what has happened

Nothing weird happened for me. What should I have seen? Are the XLSX files coming straight from Excel? No editing in LibreOffice? We would need them to be untouched by LibreOffice in order to have a clear case.

You can achieve this by defining a default blank template.

This could be achieved by chart styles, bug 62925

I don't think there is a problem with rows, but for columns there is bug 50916

Hi,

I have done everything by using Libre office.
The data numbers I have copied so as they are from
my excel but there were no functions included.
I have saved the Libre results as Windows exel files
and reloaded after having closed and reopened Libre.
Because Libre looses part of the data or pictures
every time after having reached a certain size and
because I can't wait I needed to buy MS Office lisence
for one year. I have removed Libre Office from my computer.

Ok, then let's close. Anyway, I didn't see any problem, so there is no harm in closing.
